2021 Canadian Soccer League Season
The 2021 Canadian Soccer League season was the 24th season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season officially commenced on August 28, 2021, and concluded with the CSL Championship final on November 7, 2021, at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Ontario. The championship was contested between reigning champions FC Vorkuta, and Scarborough SC with Scarborough defeating Vorkuta for their second title. Vorkuta completed the season with a league double (regular season, and ProSound Cup). The league was delayed once again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which created another modified shortened schedule. The regular season was reformatted into an invitational competition named the ProSound Cup, which featured permanent league members, and invitational clubs. The Canadian Soccer League (CSL; french: Ligue canadienne de soccer — LCS) is a semi-professional league for Canadian soccer clubs primarily located in the province of Ontario, and claims the history of the Canadian National Soccer League (CNSL). It is a Non-FIFA international football, Non-FIFA league previously sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA), but now affiliated with the Soccer Federation of Canada (SFC). Hamilton City Soccer Club
Hamilton City 1 Soccer Club was a Canadian soccer team founded in 2016 that played in the Canadian Soccer League, and played their home games at Cardinal Newman Secondary School multi-sport athletic field in the community of Stoney Creek, Hamilton. In 2021, they merged with fellow CSL club Brantford Galaxy to form BGH City FC. Anastasious "Tom" Michalopoulos (January 22, 1950 – April 21, 2021) was a Greek-born Canadian entrepreneur, businessman, president, and founder of Coffee Time. He was also the president of Chairman's Brands the parent company to 241 Pizza, Coffee Time, Eggsmart, New Orleans Pizza, and the Friendly Greek.
