2020–21 Texas Tech Red Raiders Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team represented Texas Tech University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The Red Raiders were led by fifth-year coach Chris Beard. They played their home games at the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas. They finished the season 18–11, 9–8 in Big 12 Play to tie for 6th place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament to Texas. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated Utah State in the First Round before losing in the Second Round to Arkansas. Chris Beard (basketball)
Christopher Michael Beard (born February 18, 1973) is an American basketball coach who is the head men's coach at University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). He also previously served as head coach at Texas, Texas Tech, Little Rock, Angelo State, and McMurry. Beard graduated from high school from McCullough High School in The Woodlands, Texas. He was a manager at Texas under former Longhorns coach Tom Penders, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology. He received a Masters of Education from Abilene Christian University where he served as a graduate assistant in 1998. Under Beard's watch, the Texas Tech Red Raiders made the deepest NCAA Tournament runs in school history. 2020 Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2020 Phillips 66 Big 12 men's basketball tournament was a postseason men's basketball tournament for the 2019–20 Big 12 Conference men's basketball season, Big 12 Conference. It was scheduled to be played from March 11 to 14, in Kansas City, Missouri at the Sprint Center. The winner would have received the conference's automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, 2020 NCAA tournament. On March 11, 2020, Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby announced that fans would not be allowed to attend the tournament beginning with the games on March 12 due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, COVID-19 pandemic. Davide Moretti
Davide Moretti (born 25 March 1998) is an Italian professional basketball player for Reyer Venezia of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He played college basketball for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Early life and career In addition to basketball, Moretti grew up in Bologna, Italy playing soccer, tennis, and volleyball. In the 2013–14 season, he played for prominent Italian amateur club Stella Azzurra. In 2013, Moretti joined Stella Azzurra at the Città di Roma regional tournament for the Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament. On 9 July 2014 he signed with Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) club Pistoia Basket 2000, where his father Paolo Moretti was head coach. Through 12 games, Moretti averaged 1.3 points in 6.9 minutes per game. The 2020 NBA draft was held on November 18, 2020. The draft was originally scheduled to be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 25, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was instead conducted at ESPN's facilities in Bristol, Connecticut, with the event held via videoconferencing.
