2020–21 Long Beach State Beach Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Long Beach State men's basketball team represented California State University, Long Beach, in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Beach were led by 14th-year head coach Dan Monson and played their home game at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California as a member of the Big West Conference. In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they finished the season 6–12, 4–8 in Big West play to finish in ninth place. They defeated Cal State Northridge in the first round of the Big West tournament before losing to UC Santa Barbara in the quarterfinals. Previous season Long Beach State finished the 2019–20 season 11–21, 6–10 in Big West play to finish in a tie for seventh place. Dan Monson
Daniel Lloyd Monson (born October 6, 1961) is an American college basketball coach serving as the head coach at Long Beach State since April 2007. Previously he was head coach at Minnesota for over seven seasons (1999–2006), reaching postseason play five times. Before coaching the Gophers, he was the head coach at Gonzaga for two seasons, leading the Zags on an improbable run to the Elite Eight during his last season. Early years Monson is the son of college basketball coach Don Monson, and spent most of his early years in eastern Washington, where his father was a successful high school head coach in Cheney and Pasco for 18 seasons. At age 14, the family moved from Pasco to East Lansing, Michigan, where Don was an assistant coach for Jud Heathcote at Michigan State for two seasons. The Tulane Green Wave men's basketball team represents Tulane University in NCAA Division I college basketball. The team competes in the American Athletic Conference. They play home games on campus in Devlin Fieldhouse, the 9th-oldest active basketball venue in the nation. The team's last appearance in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was in 1995. The Iona Gaels men's basketball team represents Iona University in New Rochelle, New York in NCAA Division I competition.
