2020–21 Liga II
The 2020–21 Liga II (also known as 2020–21 Liga II Casa Pariurilor) was the 81st season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. A total of 21 teams contested the league, instead of 20, due to the no relegation rule imposed in the previous season by the suspension of the league due to COVID-19 pandemic. It was the fifth Liga II season with a single series. In the regular season each team played every other team once, followed by a promotion play-off and a relegation play-out. The first two teams promoted to Liga I at the end of the season and the third-placed and fourth-placed team played a play-off match against the 13th-placed and 14th-placed team from Liga I. The last six teams relegated to Liga III. The season began on 5 September 2020 and ended on 3 June 2021. Liga II
The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. Generally, Seria I included eastern teams while Seria II included western sides, although clubs near the center of the country are allowed to choose in which series they will compete. The first six teams from each series participate in a play-off for potential promotion to Liga I. The Romanian football league system, also known as the football pyramid, refers to the system in Romanian club football that consists of several football leagues bound together hierarchically by promotion and relegation. The first three leagues are organized at a national level and consist of fully professional teams. Bacău
Bacău ( , , ; hu, Bákó; la, Bacovia) is the main city in Bacău County, Romania. At the 2016 national estimation it had a population of 196,883, making it the 12th largest city in Romania. Asociația Clubul Sportiv Campionii Fotbal Club Argeș, commonly known as FC Argeș or Argeș Pitești (), is a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Pitești, Argeș County, which competes in the Liga I. 2020–21 Liga I
The 2020–21 Liga I (also known as Casa Liga 1 for sponsorship reasons) was the 103rd season of the Liga I, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs. The season started on 21 August 2020 and ended on 19 May 2021. CFR Cluj were winners and three-time defending champions. It was the sixth season to take place in the play-off/play-out format, and the first since the 2005–06 season to feature 16 teams. The play-off/play-out rule was also altered, with the first six teams at the regular season qualified for the play-off tournament and the last ten for the play-out. The first six teams played two matches against each other as before, but in the play-out the teams only played once against each other. At the end of the play-out, the first two places (or the 7th and 8th overall) played a single match on the ground of the lower ranked team, and the subsequent winner played the last team ranked on a UEFA Europa Conference League spot in the play-off. Asociația Sport Club Daco-Getica București, commonly known as Daco-Getica București, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest. From 1992 to the summer of 2018, the team was known as ''Juventus București'', a name which was also used by unrelated Petrolul Ploiești in the past.
