2020–21 LEB Oro Season
The 2020–21 LEB Oro season was the 25th season of the Spanish basketball second league. It started on 16 October 2020 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 20 June 2021 with the final. It was the following season after the 2019–20 season was curtailed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, there were not relegations to LEB Plata and the league was expanded to 19 teams, record of the league, which was divided into two groups for the first time in its history. On August 27, 2020, FEB and acb agreed a support plan for the league and intended to alleviate the effects of COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to guarantee the broadcast of all the matches of the league. The total of these grants, therefore, amounted to one million euros, which were distributed evenly among the clubs registered in the league for the 2020–21 season. Liga Española De Baloncesto
The Liga Española de Baloncesto, also known as LEB Oro, is the second basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system after the Liga ACB. It is run by the FEB. The Liga Española de Baloncesto is divided into two categories (the other one is the LEB Plata). The LEB league was founded in 1996 and is played under FIBA rules. It was renamed LEB Oro in 2007. The league is contested by 18 clubs. Each season, the top-finishing team in the LEB Oro are automatically promoted to the Liga ACB. The teams that finish the season in 2nd to 9th place enter a playoff tournament, with the winner also gaining promotion to the Liga ACB. The three lowest-finishing teams in the LEB Oro are relegated to LEB Plata. The Spanish Basketball Federation ( es, Federación Española de Baloncesto; FEB) is the governing body of basketball in Spain. It is based in Madrid, Spain. Fundación Lucentum Baloncesto Alicante, also known as HLA Alicante for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team based in Alicante, Valencian Community. History The club was founded on 17 June 2015 with the aim to save the basketball in the city after the financial problems of the main club CB Lucentum. Club Baloncesto Ciudad de Valladolid, also known as Real Valladolid Baloncesto by sponsorship reasons, is a Spanish professional basketball team based in Valladolid, Castile and León. The team currently plays in league LEB Oro. History CB Ciudad de Valladolid was founded in June 2015 by the former American-Spanish retired player Mike Hansen with the aim to replace CB Valladolid, the main club of the city, which was dissolved at the end of the 2014–15 season. Palencia Baloncesto, officially named as CD Zunder Palencia, is a professional basketball team based in Palencia, Castile and León. The team currently plays in league LEB Oro. History The club was founded in 1979 at Colegio Marista of Palencia, with the aim to support farm teams competing at provincial and regional tournaments. The professional basketball team was created on 1997 and played during five years at Liga EBA before being invited to join the LEB Plata. Oviedo Club Baloncesto, also known as Alimerka Oviedo Baloncesto for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team based in Oviedo, Asturias, that plays in the Spanish LEB Oro league. The 2019–20 LEB Plata season was the 20th season of the Spanish basketball third league. It started on 21 September 2019 with the first round of the regular season and was curtailed on 25 May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
