Club Bàsquet Girona 2014 is a Spanish basketball club based in Girona, Catalonia, that was founded in 2014 by NBA player Marc Gasol. History The club was founded in 2014 by NBA player Marc Gasol, who previously played in CB Girona between 2006 and 2008, with the name of Club Escola Bàsquet Marc Gasol. In its first years, the club only competed in youth categories. In 2016, it added the name of the city of Girona to the name of the club thus becoming CEB Girona Marc Gasol and one year later, it changed again its name to simply Bàsquet Girona. Also in 2017, and with the aim to become the main men's basketball club in the city, the club created the senior squad that would start competing in the fourth-tier Liga EBA after achieving a vacant spot in the league. Liga ACB
The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administrated by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the LEB Oro and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs. The competition was founded as the ACB Primera División on 1983 following the decision of clubs in the Liga Nacional, founded in 1957, to break away from the Spanish Basketball Federation and professionalize the league. 2018–19 LEB Plata Season
The 2018–19 LEB Plata season was the 19th season of the Spanish basketball third league. It started on 6 October 2018 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 25 May 2019 with the promotion playoffs. Format changes On 2 June 2018, the General Assembly of the Spanish Basketball Federation agreed some changes in the competition format: *The competition will be expanded to 24 teams, divided into two groups of twelve by economical and geographical criteria. Jordi Trias Feliu (born November 5, 1980) is a Spanish former basketball player. Standing at , he plays at the power forward position. Luboš Bartoň (born 7 April 1980) is a Czech professional basketball coach. He is a 2.02 m tall small forward who last played for FC Barcelona Bàsquet B, FC Barcelona B of Spain's second division. College career Bartoň played college basketball at Valparaiso University with the Valparaiso Crusaders men's basketball, Valparaiso Crusaders from 1998-02. The 2021–22 LEB Oro season is the 26th season of the Spanish basketball second league. It started on 8 October 2021 with the first round of the regular season and will end on 19 June 2022 with the Final Four. Format changes For this season, the league is back to 18 teams and bring back the single group with a single group phase in which the top team of the regular season will promote directly to Liga ACB. At the same time, the teams placed between 2nd and 9th will qualify for the playoffs to decide the second promotion to Liga ACB and the last three teams will be relegated to LEB Plata. 2020–21 LEB Oro Season
The 2020–21 LEB Oro season was the 25th season of the Spanish basketball second league. It started on 16 October 2020 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 20 June 2021 with the final. It was the following season after the 2019–20 season was curtailed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, there were not relegations to LEB Plata and the league was expanded to 19 teams, record of the league, which was divided into two groups for the first time in its history.
