The 2020–21 season was the 91st season in the existence of Girona FC and the club's second consecutive season in the second division of Spanish football. In addition to the domestic league, Girona participated in this season's edition of the Copa del Rey. The season covered the period from 24 August 2020 to 30 June 2021. Girona FC
Girona Futbol Club, S.A.D. is a professional football club based in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. Founded on 23 July 1930, it plays in La Liga, to which they gained promotion in the 2022 Segunda División play-offs. Girona holds its home matches at the 11,810-capacity Estadi Montilivi. The club also has youth and amateur women's teams for competition. History Football became of a particular interest in Girona at the beginning of the 20th century. The first major club in the city was Strong Esport (founded in 1902 under original name of FC Gerundense). In the 1920s in Girona there were two new clubs, CE Gironí and UD Girona. After the disappearance of the UD Girona it was decided to create a new football team in the city. Enric Franquesa Dolz (born 26 February 1997) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a left back for CD Leganés, on loan from Levante UD. Club career Born in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona, Catalonia, Franquesa joined FC Barcelona's La Masia in 2006 from hometown side Club Junior 1917. Jordi Calavera Espinach (born 2 August 1995) is a Spanish footballer who plays as a right back. Club career Born in Cabra del Camp, Tarragona, Catalonia, Calavera finished his youth formation with Gimnàstic de Tarragona, and was called up to the first team by manager Santi Castillejo for the pre-season in 2013. Yan Bueno Couto (born 3 June 2002) is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a right back for La Liga club Girona, on loan from Premier League club Manchester City, and the Brazil national team. Juan Pedro Ramírez López (; born 30 April 1991), known as Juanpe , is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for La Liga club Girona. Club career Born in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Juanpe graduated from UD Las Palmas' youth academy. He made his debut as a senior with the reserves in 2008, in Tercera División. Francisco Aday Benítez Caraballo (born 16 December 1987), known as Aday, is a Spanish former professional footballer. Mainly a winger, he could also play as a full-back.
