2020–21 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Women's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women's basketball team represented Georgia Institute of Technology during the 2020-21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. They were led by second-year head coach Nell Fortner and played their home games at McCamish Pavilion as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Yellow Jackets finished the season 17–9 and 12–6 in ACC play to finish in third place. In the ACC tournament, they defeated to Clemson in the Quarterfinals before losing to eventual champions NC State in the Semifinals. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they were the five seed in the HemisFair Regional. In the tournament they defeated twelve seed in the First Round and four seed West Virginia before losing to one seed South Carolina in the Sweet Sixteen to end their season. Nell Fortner
Nell Fortner (born March 3, 1959) is the current women's college basketball coach at Georgia Tech. She is most well known for leading the 2000 Olympics team to a gold medal. She has received numerous awards including the 1997 National Coach of the Year, the 2000 USA Basketball Coach of the Year and the 2008 SEC Coach of the Year. In April 2018, she was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Fortner served as a TV analyst for ESPN from 2001-2004 before returning as the head women's basketball coach at Auburn University. In 2013, she returned to ESPN as a TV analyst. In 2019, she was hired as the women's basketball coach at Georgia Tech. Playing career Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Fortner is a graduate of New Braunfels High School where she was an all-state basketball selection and a Parade All-American. 2019–20 NC State Wolfpack Women's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 NC State Wolfpack women's basketball team represented North Carolina State University during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wolfpack were led by seventh-year head coach Wes Moore and played their home games at Reynolds Coliseum as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They finished the season 27–4, 14–4 in ACC play to finish in second place. They advanced to the finals of the ACC women's tournament where they defeated Florida State to win the ACC Tournament for the first time since 1991. As winners of the conference tournament, the Wolfpack received the automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, however due to concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic, the NCAA Tournament was canceled on March 12, 2020. The James Madison Dukes women's basketball team is the basketball team that represents James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Sun Belt Conference after previously playing in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The Dukes are led by fifth-year head coach Sean O'Regan. The West Virginia Mountaineers women's basketball team represents West Virginia University in NCAA Division I college basketball competition. They are a member of the Big 12 Conference.
