2020–21 Federation Cup (Bangladesh)
The 2020–21 Federation Cup (due to sponsorship from Walton also known as ''Walton Federation Cup 2020'') was the 32nd edition of the tournament, the main domestic annual club football competition in Bangladesh organized by Bangladesh Football Federation. The 13 participants is competing in the tournament. The tournament has started on 22 December 2020. The winner of the tournament will earn the slot of playing Qualifying play-off of 2022 AFC Cup. Bashundhara Kings are current champions. The club have defeated Rahmatganj MFS by 2–1 on 5 January 2020 to lift the trophy for the first time. Bangladesh Federation Cup
Federation Cup, also known as Bangladesh Federation Cup, is Bangladesh's premier cup competition in men's association football. The competition started in 1980 and is run by the Bangladesh Football Federation which is responsible for all types of competitive matches in the country. The teams from the country's premier league and other clubs compete in the tournament while occasionally Indian sides were invited in the past. Most of the matches are played in the country's main football venue Bangabandhu National Stadium. The winner of the tournament earn the slot of playing qualifying round of AFC Cup. Format A total of 13 teams participate in the final round. Teams are split into 4 groups. Two teams from each group qualify for the knockout rounds. The 2016 Federation Cup also known as ''Walton Federation Cup 2016'' due to the sponsorship from Walton was the 28th edition of the tournament. A total of 12 teams competed in this tournament. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club was the winner of previous edition of the tournament. The tournament kicked off on 10 June 2016 with the match between Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Dhaka Abahani lifted the title of Federation Cup with a 1–0 victory over Sheikh Moni Arambagh KS at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on 26 June 2016. 2012 Bangladesh Federation Cup
The 2012 Bangladesh Federation Cup was the 25th edition of the association football competition. It was won by Sheikh Russel KC for their first title, defeating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club 2-1 in extra time. The competition started on 5 October and finished with the final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on 22 October. 15 teams took part with the first round being played as a Group Stage, three groups contained four teams with one group of three teams. Sheikh Russel KC is a professional football club based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, currently playing in the Bangladesh Premier League. The club has won the Federation Cup in 2012, which was their first major title. They also won their maiden Bangladesh Premier League title in the season 2012–13. Muktijoddha Sangsad KC ( bn, মুক্তিযোদ্ধা সংসদ ক্রীড়া চক্র) is a Bangladeshi professional football club based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The club is nicknamed The Freedom Fighters. It competes in the country's premier competition, Bangladesh Premier League. History Early Years Founded in 1981, by the Muktijoddha Sangsad welfare association, in remembrance of the Freedom Fighters that died in Bangladesh during the 1971 Liberation War. In 1982, during their time in the Dhaka First Division, Muktijoddha formed a fierce rivalry with BRTC FC. Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited Dhaka, founded in 1936 at Dhaka, is one of the oldest and one of the most popular football clubs in Bangladesh, with a support base in all parts of the country.
