The 2020–21 season was the 112th season in the existence of Borussia Dortmund and the club's 45th consecutive season in the top flight of German football. The 2019–20 Borussia Dortmund season was the 111th season in the football club's history and 44th consecutive and 53rd overall season in the top flight of German football, the Bundesliga, having been promoted from the 2. Bundesliga Nord in 1976. In addition to the domestic league, Borussia Dortmund also participated in the season's editions of the domestic cup, the DFB-Pokal, and the first-tier continental cup, the UEFA Champions League. Raphaël Adelino José Guerreiro (; born 22 December 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as left-back or as a midfielder for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and the Portugal national team. Marco Reus (; born 31 May 1989) is a German professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or forward. He captains Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and plays for the Germany national team. Reus spent his youth career at Borussia Dortmund, prior to leaving for Rot Weiss Ahlen.
