2020–21 Bangladesh Premier League (football)
The 2020–21 Bangladesh Premier League was the 13th season of the Bangladesh Premier League since its establishment in 2007. A total of 13 football clubs are competing in the league. The country's top-flight football competition, Bangladesh Premier League 2020–21 season is kicked off on January 13 after 10 months. The previous season was abandoned due to COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh. Bashundhara Kings are the defending champions as 2018–19 season winner. The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), officially known as TVS Motor Company, TVS Bangladesh Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is a top tier of Bangladeshi professional association football, football league pyramid. It is run directly by the professional football league committee of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). Dhaka Derby is one of the most popular matches in the league. Team BJMC
Team Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (Team BJMC) was a sporting club in Bangladesh, which is mainly located in the city of Dhaka. The club was formerly known as East Pakistan IDC prior to 1971 and Bangladesh JIC from 1971 until 1978, from which point onward the club has been renamed to Team BJMC. In 1981 the club had stopped all their football related activities, however, after 29 years, in 2010 they restarted playing professional football under the new manager Arif Khan Joy. Muktijoddha Sangsad KC ( bn, মুক্তিযোদ্ধা সংসদ ক্রীড়া চক্র) is a Bangladeshi professional football club based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The club is nicknamed The Freedom Fighters. It competes in the country's premier competition, Bangladesh Premier League. History Early Years Founded in 1981, by the Muktijoddha Sangsad welfare association, in remembrance of the Freedom Fighters that died in Bangladesh during the 1971 Liberation War. In 1982, during their time in the Dhaka First Division, Muktijoddha formed a fierce rivalry with BRTC FC. The two clubs fought head on for promotion and during the league ending game, Muktijoddha's forward "Lucky" Govinda who was lethal throughout the season was not able to prevent the clubs defeat. Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited Dhaka, founded in 1936 at Dhaka, is one of the oldest and one of the most popular football clubs in Bangladesh, with a support base in all parts of the country.
