2020 USC Trojans Football Team
The 2020 USC Trojans football team represented the University of Southern California in the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They played their home games at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and competed as members of the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference. They were led by fifth-year head coach Clay Helton. On August 11, the Pac-12 Conference initially canceled all fall sports competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On September 24, the conference announced that a six-game conference-only season would begin on November 6, with the conference's championship game to be played on December 18. Teams not selected for the championship game would be seeded to play a seventh game. USC compiled a 5–0 regular season record, and qualified for the Pac-12 Championship Game, which they lost to Oregon. Clay Helton
Clay Charles Helton (born June 24, 1972) is an American college football coach and former player, who is currently the head coach at Georgia Southern. He was previously the head coach of USC from 2015 to 2021. Helton has also been an assistant coach for Duke, Houston and Memphis. His father, Kim Helton, was a coach in college, the National Football League, and the Canadian Football League. Early life Helton was born on June 24, 1972, in Gainesville, Florida, where his father Kim Helton, was a graduate assistant for the Florida Gators football team. Velus Tyler Phillip Jones Jr. (born May 11, 1997) is an American football wide receiver and return specialist for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at USC before transferring to Tennessee. Early life and high school Jones was born in Mobile, Alabama and lived there until his family moved to Saraland, Alabama when he was eight years old. He attended Saraland High School and was named first team All-State as a junior after catching 51 passes for 1,118 yards and nine touchdowns. The 2020 UNLV Rebels football team represented the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Rebels were led by first–year head coach Marcus Arroyo. They played their home games at Allegiant Stadium as members of the Mountain West Conference. It was the first season for the UNLV Rebels football team at Allegiant Stadium. They played their first game there on October 31 against Nevada. On August 10, 2020, the Mountain West Conference suspended all fall sports competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
