2020 UNLV Rebels Football Team
The 2020 UNLV Rebels football team represented the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Rebels were led by first–year head coach Marcus Arroyo. They played their home games at Allegiant Stadium as members of the Mountain West Conference. It was the first season for the UNLV Rebels football team at Allegiant Stadium. They played their first game there on October 31 against Nevada. On August 10, 2020, the Mountain West Conference suspended all fall sports competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On September 24, 2020, the Mountain West Conference resumed all fall sports competitions. Due to scheduling issues with the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium, UNLV moved its September 5, 2020 home game to Sam Boyd Stadium which was later canceled. Marcus Arroyo
Marcus Cole Arroyo (born January 23, 1980) is an American football coach and former plauer. He served as the head football coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) from 2020 to 2022. Arroyo played college football as quarterback at San Jose State University. From 2004 to 2019, Arroyo was an assistant coach, most recently at the University of Oregon as offensive coordinator from 2017 to 2019. Playing career After graduating from Colfax High School in Colfax, California, Arroyo was the starting quarterback for the San Jose State Spartans from 1998 to 2002. He set many school records for passing, some of which are still unsurpassed. To this day, Arroyo ranks eighth in passing yards (4,603), ninth in completions (348) and total offense (4,525 yards), and tenth in passing efficiency (115.6). 2020 Boise State Broncos Football Team
The 2020 Boise State Broncos football team represented Boise State University during the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Broncos played their home games at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho, as members of the Mountain West Conference. They were led by seventh-year head coach Bryan Harsin. After the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, then reinstated, the Broncos played seven games, compiling a 5–2 record (5–0 in conference play). The 2020 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors football team represented the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Rainbow Warriors played their final home games at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu as members of the Mountain West Conference. They were led by first-year head coach Todd Graham. The 2020 Wyoming Cowboys football team represented the University of Wyoming during the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The season was suspended on August 10, 2020, however, the Mountain West Conference board of directors later decided to play an eight-game season, starting on October 24. Fremont Cannon
The Fremont Cannon is the trophy awarded to the winner of the Battle for Nevada (also known as the Nevada–UNLV football rivalry), an American college football rivalry game played annually by the Nevada Wolf Pack football team of the University of Nevada, Reno (Nevada) and the UNLV Rebels football team of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The trophy was built in 1970 and is a replica of a 19th-century Howitzer cannon that accompanied American explorer and politician John C. Frémont on an expedition to the American West and Nevada in the mid 19th century. The original cannon had been abandoned, due to heavy snows, in the Sierra Nevada in 1843. The replica cannon was originally fired following a touchdown by the team in possession of the cannon, but it has been inoperable since 1999.
