2020 Team Bath Netball Season
The 2020 Team Bath netball season will see Team Bath play in the 2020 Netball Superleague. Squad Preseason Fast5 Netball All-Stars Championship On 12 October 2019, Team Bath played in the Fast5 Netball All-Stars Championship. They were knocked out in the double elimination stage after losing two games. ;Double Elimination Stage The Big Showdown Team Bath relaunched their pre-season Tri-Tournament as The Big Showdown. The number of entrants was expanded from three to six. The winners were also awarded the Lyn Gunson Trophy, named after the former Team Bath and England head coach, Lyn Gunson. England National Netball Team
The England national women's netball team, also known as the ''Vitality Roses'', represent England in international netball competition. England are coached by Jess Thirlby, and are currently captained by Natalie Metcalf. As of 1 July 2020, the team is ranked third in the INF World Rankings. England have won one silver and several bronze medals at the World Cup and have won one gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. History The England national netball team was established in 1963, ahead of the inaugural Netball World Championships held in Eastbourne that year. England have appeared at every World Championships (since renamed as the World Cup) and most recently the team competed at the 2019 Netball World Cup, finishing third. London Pulse
London Pulse is an English netball team based at the Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, London. Since 2019 their senior team has played in the Netball Superleague. History National Performance League London Pulse was originally founded in 2016. Former England netball international, Natalie Seaton founded the franchise and subsequently became the CEO. London Pulse initially entered under-17 and under-19 teams in England Netball's National Performance League. They also launched a campaign to become a Netball Superleague franchise. In 2018 London Pulse won the National Performance League under-19 title after they beat defending champions, Manchester Thunder, 53–43 in the final. Wasps Netball
Wasps Netball were an English netball team based at the Coventry Building Society Arena in Coventry, Warwickshire. Wasps Netball was formed in 2016 as a partnership with the Premiership Rugby team, Wasps RFC. Since 2017 their senior team has played in the Netball Superleague. They were Superleague champions in 2017 and 2018. The holding company for the team were placed in insolvency on 17 October 2022. Loughborough Lightning is an English netball team based at Loughborough University. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were founder members of the league. They also enter under-19 and under-21 teams in the National Performance League. Using the name Loughborough Students, Loughborough University also enter teams in intervarsity leagues organised by British Universities and Colleges Sport. Surrey Storm is an English netball team based at the University of Surrey. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. Between 2001 and 2005 they played in the Super Cup as London Hurricanes. After forming a partnership with Brunel University London, they became the Brunel Hurricanes. In 2005–06 they were founder members of the new Netball Superleague. Strathclyde Sirens are a Scottish netball team based in Glasgow. Since 2017 their senior team has played in the Netball Superleague. Sirens also played in the 2018 Netball New Zealand Super Club tournament. They were originally known as the Scottish Sirens. In 2017 they became the UWS Sirens as a result of a sponsorship arrangement with the University of the West of Scotland. Severn Stars are an English netball team based at the University of Worcester and the University of Gloucestershire. The team is named after the River Severn, which runs through Worcester and Gloucester, the home cities of the two universities. Severn Stars were formed in 2016 and since 2017 their senior team has played in the Netball Superleague. Lyn Gunson
Lyn Gunson (born 31 December 1953), also known as Lyn Parker, is a former New Zealand netball international and a former head coach of both the New Zealand and England national netball teams. She captained New Zealand when they won the 1985 World Games title and coached them when they retained the same title in 1989. In 1989 she was named New Zealand Coach of the Year. Between 1999 and 2008 Gunson also served as head coach and/or director of netball for Team Bath, guiding them to Netball Superleague titles in 2005–06 and 2006–07. Early life and education Gunson is originally from Northland, New Zealand. In 1974 she graduated from the University of Otago with a Diploma in Physical Education. Saracens Mavericks is an English netball team based at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were founder members of the league. They were Superleague champions in 2007–08 and 2011. Due to various sponsorship deals and partnership arrangements, the team has played under several different names. Between 2005–06 and 2008–09 they played as Galleria Mavericks.
