Severn Stars
Severn Stars are an English netball team based at the University of Worcester and the University of Gloucestershire. The team is named after the River Severn, which runs through Worcester and Gloucester, the home cities of the two universities. Severn Stars were formed in 2016 and since 2017 their senior team has played in the Netball Superleague. History New franchise In June 2016 it was announced that Severn Stars, together with Wasps Netball and Scottish Sirens, would be one of three new franchises that would join the Netball Superleague for the 2017 season. Severn Stars were formed as a partnership between the University of Worcester and the University of Gloucestershire. They subsequently appointed Anita Navin and Pamela Cookey as directors of netball and Mo'onia Gerrard as their first head coach. Eleanor Cardwell
Eleanor 'Ellie' Cardwell is an English international netball player. She plays in goal attack and goal shooter for England, and at the club level represents Manchester Thunder in the Netball Superleague. Cardwell was born in Blackpool, joininBlackpool Netball Clubat the age of 10. She played with Manchester Thunder initially as a defender, before transitioning to attack in the 2015 and 2016 Superleague seasons. In 2016 she represented England in Netball Europe. Nia Jones
Nia Jones (born 6 April 1992) is an athlete who represents Wales internationally at both netball and football. She won the FAW Young Player of the Year Award in 2011. She was nominated for the SportingWales Magazine and UWIC Rising Star Award in 2013. Early and personal life Jones was born in Wrexham. After attending school at Ysgol Maes Garmon she later studied Sports and PE at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. Netball career Jones plays netball as either goal defence or wing defence. She began her career at Mold Netball Club, and she captained the Welsh national teams at under-17 and under-21 youth level. She is currently Co-Captain of the Wales Senior Team. Phumza Maweni
Phumza Maweni (born September 4, 1984) is a South African netball player in the Netball Superleague in the UK, representing Team Bath Netball. Maweni was raised in Cala, in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. She went on to compete for the Kingdom Stars and Southern Stings in the South African Brutal Fruit Netball Cup and has also played several seasons in England's Netball Superleague, first for the Loughborough Lightning and later for the Severn Stars. Maweni's exceptional form in the local South African league led to national team coach Norma Plummer calling on her to be signed by foreign clubs in higher profile leagues. Maryka Holtzhausen
Maryka Holtzhausen (born 2 June 1987) is a former South African netball player. She played in the positions of GA and WA. She was a member of the South Africa national netball team, and competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore. She also participated in the 2010 World Netball Series and the 2011 World Netball Series, both held in Liverpool, UK. She played in the 2012 Quad Series, and in the same year, she won a bronze medal in 2012 Fast5 Netball World Series with the Fast5 Proteas. Holtzhausen was the first player from her country to line up in the UK's leading competition, the Netball Superleague, joining Loughborough Lightning (netball), Loughborough Lightning for the 2015 season. Liana Leota
Liana Leota (née Barrett-Chase; born 31 October 1984) is a New Zealand netball player. She is a member of the national netball team, the Silver Ferns, and plays for Severn Stars in the British Netball Superleague. Leota was a member of the Southern Sting in 2007, which won the National Bank Cup that year. She also played for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in 2006 and the Western Flyers from 2003–2005. She continued playing in Invercargill with the Southern Steel in the new ANZ Championship, which started in 2008. That same year, Leota debuted in the Silver Ferns against Australia. Towera Vinkhumbo
Towera Vinkhumbo (born 14 February 1991), also referred to as Towera Vinkhumbo-Nyirenda or Towera Nyirenda, is a Malawi netball international and a Malawi women's football international. As a netball player she represented Malawi at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011, 2015 and 2019 Netball World Cups. Jodi-Ann Ward
Jodi-Ann Ward (born 1 September 1994) is a Jamaican netball player who plays in the Australian Suncorp Super Netball league for the Collingwood Magpies. She has also represented the Jamaica at an international level since 2017. Career Ward made her international debut in late 2017 against Barbados at the age of 22. She was also selected for the Jamaican netball team to take part at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Ashleigh Brazill
Ashleigh Brazill (born 29 December 1989 in Campbelltown, New South Wales) is an Australian netball and AFL Women's player, playing both sports concurrently for Collingwood Football Club. She has played for the West Coast Fever and New South Wales Swifts previously in her netball career. Netball career Domestic Brazill made her domestic league debut for the New South Wales Swifts in 2010. She made the move to the West Coast Fever in 2012 and made an immediate impact, winning the club's MVP for the season. Ama Agbeze (born 12 November 1982) is an England netball international. She was captain when England won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In 2019 she received an for her services to netball. She was also a member of the England team that won the bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
