2020 Stanford Cardinal Baseball Team
The 2020 Stanford Cardinal baseball team represents Stanford University in the 2020 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Cardinal play their home games at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond under third year coach David Esquer. Previous season The Cardinal started February off hot winning the 2019 Angels College Classic and kept going through March winning the series against ranked Cal State Fullerton and ranked Texas five of the seven games. They continued winning when they got into the conference season but would stumble against #1 ranked UCLA losing two of three to them. Stanford finished second in the Pac-12 conference and got their own Regional beating Sacramento State twice and then would take two of three against Fresno State. David Esquer
David Charles Esquer (born April 13, 1965) is an American college baseball coach (baseball), coach. He is the head coach of the Stanford Cardinal baseball team. He previously served as head coach of the California Golden Bears baseball team from 2000–2017. Early life and education Esquer attended Palma High School in Salinas, California where he played basketball, football, and baseball. Esquer was team captain and MVP of the baseball team and was named his high school's athlete of the year. He attended Stanford University and was a starting shortstop for Stanford Cardinal baseball under head coach Mark Marquess and as a senior helped Stanford win the 1987 College World Series, in which he was named to the all-tournament team for hitting .350 with six RBI. Evans Diamond at Stu Gordon Stadium is a college baseball park on the west coast of the United States, located on the campus of the University of California in Berkeley, California. Opened in 1933, it is the home field of the California Golden Bears of the Pac-12 Conference, with a seating capacity of 2,500. Evans Diamond is located in the UC sports complex at the southwest corner of campus, pressed between George C. Edwards Stadium to the west (right field) and Haas Pavilion to the east. 2020 Texas Tech Red Raiders Baseball Team
The 2020 Texas Tech Red Raiders baseball team represented Texas Tech University during the 2020 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Red Raiders played their home games at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The team was led by 8th year head coach Tim Tadlock. On March 12, the team announced the series against West Virginia would be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Dell Diamond is the home stadium of the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Texas Rangers major league baseball team. On April 16, 2000, the then- Double-A affiliate Express played their first home game at the stadium. Dell Diamond is built on 85 acres (344,000 m2) of former farmland on the east side of Round Rock, Texas, a rapidly growing suburban city northeast of Austin. Nolan Ryan and his son Reid Ryan, part owners of the Express, originally wanted a stadium inside the city of Austin, but found a more attractive site in the City of Round Rock, with support from the city leadership.
