2020 Schweizer Cup
The 2020 Schweizer Cup (French: ''Cup Suisse'') was held from August 20 to 23 in Baden, Switzerland. The total purse for the event was 11,000 Swiss francs on both the men's and women's sides. Similar to the Canada Cup held in Canada, the Schweizer Cup is an annual event where the top teams in Switzerland compete in a round robin and playoff round. Team Peter de Cruz from Geneva opted out of the tournament as they prepared for the Baden Masters the following week. In the men's event, Andrin Schnider and his team from Schaffhausen took the title in a draw to the button against Yannick Schwaller of Bern. In the bronze medal game, Jan Hess came from behind, scoring four points in the seventh end and stealing one in the eighth to defeat Jan Klossner. On the women's side of the draw, Elena Stern from Brig-Glis came back from a 4–1 deficit at the half way point to defeat Aarau's Silvana Tirinzoni. Irene Schori (born 4 December 1983) is a Swiss curler from Bremgarten. She currently plays third on Team Michèle Jäggi. Career Schori was named to the Swiss Olympic Team in 2010. She served as the alternate for Mirjam Ott's team in Vancouver. They just missed winning a medal, finishing fourth. Schori has participated in both the 2008 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, 2008 and the 2009 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, 2009 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships with partner Toni Müller, and has taken gold at both of these championships. 2020 Swiss Women's Curling Championship
The 2020 Swiss Women's Curling Championship, Switzerland's national women's curling championship, was held from February 9 to 15 in Thun, Switzerland. The winning Elena Stern team was supposed to represent Switzerland at the 2020 World Women's Curling Championship at the CN Centre in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada but the event got cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event featured the reigning World Champion rink Silvana Tirinzoni from Aarau, the Elena Stern rink from CC Oberwallis and two time World Champion team Binia Feltscher from Langenthal. In the final, Stern capped off an undefeated week by defeating Tirinzoni's team for the third time during the competition. Feltscher won the bronze medal with a 9–8 win over Nora Wüest.
