2020 Q School
The 2020 Q School was a series of three snooker tournaments held at the start of the 2020–21 snooker season. An event for amateur players, it served as a qualification event for a place on the professional World Snooker Tour for the following two seasons. The events took place in August 2020 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, England with a total 12 players qualifying via the three tournaments. Format Originally planned for June 2020, the series was delayed until August because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 Q School still consisted of three events but, rather than taking place one after the other, they were all played in a week. All first and second matches for all three events were played on the opening four days, and then the final stages were played on the next three days. Q School (snooker)
The Q School is an amateur snooker competition which serves as the qualification process for the World Snooker Tour. Overview The Q School was established in an attempt to streamline the qualification process for the World Snooker Tour. A series of play-offs are run every year before the season. Players pay a fixed entry fee to enter the play-off events, and there is no prize money. Each player who wins a quarter-final game qualifies for a two-year tour card on the Main Tour. Michael White (snooker Player)
Michael White (born 5 July 1991) is a Welsh professional snooker player from Neath, Glamorgan. Nicknamed ‘Lightning’ due to his fast playing style, White is a former top 16 player and two-time ranking event winner. A highly rated junior, he became the youngest player to have made a century break in competitive play aged 9, and won the World Amateur Championship at 14. White won his first ranking event at the 2015 Indian Open, before breaking into the top 16 during the 2015-16 season and capturing his second ranking title at the 2017 Paul Hunter Classic. White's form started to decline in the 2018-19 season however, eventually leading to him dropping off the professional tour in 2020. Haydon Pinhey is an English snooker player from Devon. Early life From Plymouth, Devon. Pinhey attended Sir John Hunt Community Sports College and worked at the Plaza Snooker Club on the Barbican of his home town. Career He made his television debut at the 2021 Snooker Shoot Out. 2021-2022 Pinhey played in a number of professional events during the 2021-22 World Snooker Tour season, featuring in the Championship League, the Turkish Masters, the Gibraltar Open and the Snooker Shootout. Steven Hallworth
Steven Hallworth (born 1 December 1995) is an English former professional snooker player. He is the only ever qualified professional from Lincoln. He is a practice partner of Stuart Carrington. Career Junior Hallworth started playing snooker aged 10 after trying pool on a family holiday. He then found success in junior and amateur levels and was given the opportunity to play future World Champion Mark Selby aged 12 in 2009, after winning that year's Under-17 Lincoln and District Billiards and Snooker Association crown. Farakh Ajaib (born 3 February 1991) is a Pakistani professional snooker player from Lancashire. Career In 2018, Ajaib was crowned the inaugural East Lancashire Snooker Championship winner. Jamie Wilson is a former professional snooker player from Havant in Hampshire. Rory McLeod (snooker Player)
Rory McLeod (born 26 March 1971) is a British-Jamaican professional snooker player. McLeods highest ranking,is 32 in August 2011. He has reached the last 16 in ten ranking tournaments, and his most notable achievement came in 2015, when he won the Ranking Ruhr Open, beating Tian Pengfei in the final. Having suffered relegation from the main tour at the end of the 2018-2019 season, McLeod spent the 2019-20 season playing on the World Seniors Tour and Challenge Tour; he regained his professional status in August 2020 at Q School. Kuldesh Johal (born 25 September 1980) is an English former professional snooker player. He competed on the main tour during the 2008/2009 and 2010/2011 seasons. Career Born in 1980, Johal played in Challenge Tour qualifying events in the early 2000s, without any success. Paul Davison
Paul S. Davison (born 1 October 1971) is an English former professional snooker player from Pickering, North Yorkshire. First earning a place on the World Snooker Tour in 1992, he played on the tour until 1997, and has since regained his place on the Tour on three further occasions, most recently in the 2018-19 snooker season. Davison reached a peak of 70th in the world snooker rankings in 2012, and the farthest into a ranking tournament at the 2017 Riga Masters. Michael Georgiou
Michael Georgiou (born 18 January 1988) is a British-Cypriot former professional snooker player from Forest Hill. He is a practice partner of Igor Figueiredo and Hammad Miah, who practises at Whetstone Snooker Club. In 2018, Georgiou won his first professional ranking title by defeating Graeme Dott in the final of the Snooker Shoot-Out. Michael Georgiou made the 140th official maximum break in the third frame of the last 128 match against Umut Dikme at the 2018 Paul Hunter Classic. It was Michael's first professional maximum break. Ben Hancorn
Ben Hancorn (born 24 May 1982) is an English former professional snooker player. Career In 2008, Hancorn was the runner up in the English Amateur Championship, losing the final to David Grace. Following this defeat Hancorn stopped playing snooker for a near 10-year hiatus before taking part again in the Challenge Tour.
