2020 Political Honours
As part of the British honours system, Special Honours are issued at the Monarch's pleasure at any given time. The Special Honours refer to the awards made within royal prerogative, operational honours, political honours and other honours awarded outside the New Years Honours and Birthday Honours. British Honours System
In the United Kingdom and the British Overseas Territories, personal bravery, achievement, or service are rewarded with honours. The honours system consists of three types of award: *Honours are used to recognise merit in terms of achievement and service; *Decorations tend to be used to recognise specific deeds; *Medals are used to recognise service on a particular operation or in a specific theatre, long or valuable service, and good conduct. Appointments to the various orders and awards of other honours are usually published in ''The London Gazette''. Helena Morrissey, Baroness Morrissey
Helena Louise Morrissey, Baroness Morrissey, (; 22 March 1966), is a British financier and campaigner. Early life Morrissey was born in Bowdon, Cheshire, in 1966. She grew up in Alverstoke near Portsmouth, and was educated at Bishop Luffa School. Both of her parents were teachers. She studied philosophy at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. Career Morrissey began her career at the New York and London bond desks at Schroders. Finding her career path blocked there, she moved to Newton Investment Management in the early 1990s as a fixed income fund manager. Morrissey became Newton's chief executive; as of 2015, it manages £47 billion of assets. Morrissey left Newton Investment Management in 2016. Susan Mary Hayman, Baroness Hayman of Ullock (''née'' Bentley; born 28 July 1962) is a British politician and life peer who served as Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from 2017 to 2019. The Labour Party is a political party in the United Kingdom that has been described as an alliance of social democrats, democratic socialists and trade unionists. David Wolfson, Baron Wolfson of Tredegar (born 19 July 1968) is a British politician, barrister and life peer. Dean Aaron Godson, Baron Godson (born 26 August 1962) is the Director of the London-based think tank Policy Exchange. Peter Andrew Cruddas, Baron Cruddas (born 30 September 1953) is an English banker and businessman. He is the founder of online trading company CMC Markets. Richard Henry Ronald Benyon, Baron Benyon (born 21 October 1960) is a British politician who has served as Minister of State for Biosecurity, Marine and Rural Affairs since 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, he was Member of Parliament (MP) for Newbury from 2005 to 2019.
