2020 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2020 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 133rd staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament, since its establishment in 1887. The 2020 fixtures were announced in October 2019. Games were initially scheduled to begin on 9 May 2020. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, the competition was delayed before beginning on 24 October 2020 and ending on 13 December 2020. Laois returned to the Leinster Championship for the first time since 2017, replacing Carlow who were relegated in 2019. The Semple Stadium is the home of hurling and Gaelic football for Tipperary GAA and for the province of Munster. Cian Lynch (born 3 January 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a center forward for Limerick Championship club Patrickswell, where he has held the role of captain, and the Limerick senior team. Recognised for his exceptional skill level but remaining the ultimate team player, he is widely considered one of the best players in the current game and has often been described as a "midfield magician". Lynch began his inter-county career at minor level with Limerick in 2012, with whom he won back-to-back Munster Minor Championship titles in his last two years with the team. As with other sports, the COVID-19 pandemic caused disruption to Gaelic games, primarily in Ireland but also elsewhere in the world. Competitions were cancelled, postponed or restructured, while some teams were withdrawn or were unable to participate in those competitions that went ahead. The sports (football, hurling, camogie, and ladies' football) saw all competitions suspended from 12 March 2020. The 2021 Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final was a hurling match that was played on 18 July at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork City. It was contested by defending champions Limerick and Tipperary. It was the first Munster hurling final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh since it reopened in 2017 after redevelopment. The game was televised live on RTÉ 2 as part of the Sunday Game presented by Joanne Cantwell with analysis by Dónal Óg Cusack and Henry Shefflin. Declan Hannon
Declan Hannon (born 25 November 1992) is an Irish hurler who plays for Limerick Senior Championship club Adare and at inter-county level as captain of the Limerick senior hurling team, whom he captained to the All Ireland hurling title in 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022 becoming the first Limerick captain since Mick Mackey to captain Limerick to victory twice, and the first hurling captain to lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup a record four times.
