2020 Lithuanian Football Cup
2020 Lithuanian Football Cup - 32nd edition of the Independent Lithuania Football Cup. The official name of this year's competition for sponsorship reasons is Hegelmann LFF Cup . This year's tournament was scheduled to start in April 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed to mid-June. A total of 33 A Lyga, LFF I Lyga and II Lyga teams are participating. The reserve teams do not participate in the cup competition. The A Lyga teams will join the tournament from the 1/8 final stage. With a view to shorten the competition the teams of lower divisions were not invited this year. Lithuanian Football Cup
The Lithuanian Football Federation Cup ( lt, Lietuvos futbolo federacijos taurė), also known as Hegelmann LFF Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a Lithuanian football cup competition contested in a knockout tournament format. The winner of the cup gains entitlement to participate in the Lithuanian Supercup as well as the UEFA Europa Conference League. The clubs of A Lyga, I Lyga, II Lyga, III Lyga and IV Lyga are eligible to compete. The competition format is a single-elimination tournament. The competition was sponsored by Sharp in 2018-2019, and by Hegelmann in 2020. History Interwar period The first cup tournament in Lithuania took place in 1924 and was called the "Kooperacijos taurė". It took place during the International Cooperation Day event. Dainavos Futbolo Klubas Dainava, in short, DFK Dainava, is a Lithuanian football club from Alytus. The club was established in 2016 as a phoenix club after FK Dainava Alytus was dissolved in 2014. History Modern DFK Dainava was established after "Auska" and "Dzūkų tankai" merged in 2016. In 2015 FK Auska were playing in the Pirma lyga. In 2016 the Lithuanian Football Federation allowed the club change its name and allowed to play in the Pirma lyga (second tier). FK Šilas is a Lithuanian association football, football club from the city of Kazlų Rūda. The team competes in the I Lyga, in second tier of Football in Lithuania, Lithuanian football since 2021. In 2022, after a merger, the club was renamed to Marijampolė City, and moved to Marijampolė. History Šilas was founded in 1940 as FK Ąžuolas. The club has been renamed several times in the following years. In 2016 Šilas won I Lyga and hoped for promotion to A Lyga, but after a match fixing scandal were relegated to II Lyga. FK Minija is a semi-professional Association football, football club based in Kretinga, Lithuania.
