Liberia
Liberia (), officially the Republic of Liberia, is a country on the West African coast. It is bordered by Sierra Leone to Liberia–Sierra Leone border, its northwest, Guinea to its north, Ivory Coast to its east, and the Atlantic Ocean to its south and southwest. George Dweh
George Dweh (March 6, 1961April 4, 2020) was a Liberian politician, Warlord and a member of the ethnic Krahn group who formerly operated in the Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy, LURD and the Movement for Democracy in Liberia, MODEL faction groups. He is also a cousin of the former president Samuel K. Doe, a Krahn who seized power in a 1980 coup d'etat, coup. Despite widespread resistance to his appointment amidst allegations of his involvement in numerous massacres, Dweh served as Speaker of the National Transitional Legislative Assembly of Liberia (NTLA) from October 2003 to 14 March 2005, when he was suspended from the body after being accused of financial mismanagement and corruption. New Georgia is a township in Montserrado County, Liberia that was first settled by Africans who had been taken from slave ships seized or wrecked near the United States and then sent to Liberia after several years had passed. History In July 1827 a ship named ''Norfolk'' carried 131, 143 or 144 Africans to Liberia from the United States, of whom 78 were adult women and another eleven or twelve were under ten years of age. One hundred twenty of those people had been found on the slave ship ''Antelope'' when it was seized off the coast of Florida in 1820. Chea Job Cheapoo, Sr. (2 November 1942 – 16 September 2020) was a Liberian politician who served as the 15th Chief Justice of Liberia from July 1987 until his impeachment and removal from office on December 2 of that year. His full rights were later restored by an act of legislature. Early life and education Cheapoo was born on 2 November 1942 in Kiteabo, which was located in the former Webbo District of Grand Gedeh County. He studied first at the Assembly of God school in Pleebo, then at Monrovia College. In 1961, he earned a diploma in bookkeeping from the Booker Washington Institute. He graduated from the North Carolina Central University School of Law in 1970. Adjutant Lahai Gbabye Lansanah (October 20, 1968August 5, 2020) was a Liberian politician and former military officer. Biography Lansanah was born on October 20, 1968. Lansanah was a member of the National Democratic Party of Liberia. Lansanah was elected to the Senate of Liberia in the 2005 general election as Senior Senator from the Bomi County. He was one of two senators from the NDPL and was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Defense. 2008–2009 Lansanah served as Acting President Pro Tempore of the Senate of Liberia. By 2009, Senator John Ballout of Maryland became Chairman of the Defense Committee. In the 2014 Senate election, Lansanah ran for re-election with the National Patriotic Party.
