2020 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race
The 2020 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race was a road cycling race that was held on 2 February 2020 in Geelong, Australia. It was the sixth edition of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and the second event of the 2020 UCI World Tour. The race was won in a two-up sprint by Dries Devenyns of the team, ahead of rider Pavel Sivakov, with 's Daryl Impey finishing third for the third year in succession. Teams Sixteen teams entered the race, which consisted of fifteen of the nineteen UCI WorldTeams, along with an Australian national team. Each team submitted seven riders, except for and , which each entered six, and , which only entered five. Of the starting peloton of 108 riders, 95 finished. 2020 UCI World Tour
The 2020 UCI World Tour was a series of races that was scheduled to include thirty-six road cycling events throughout the 2020 cycling season. However, some of races were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour started with the opening stage of the Tour Down Under on 21 January, and concluded with the final stage of the Vuelta a España on 8 November. Events The 2020 calendar was initially announced in June 2019. In October 2019, the calendar was officially presented by the UCI. In a road bicycle race, the peloton (from French, originally meaning 'platoon') is the main group or pack of riders. Riders in a group save energy by riding close ( drafting or slipstreaming) to (particularly behind) other riders.
