2020 CAF Champions League Final
The 2020 CAF Champions League Final, known as The Final of the Century was the final of the 2019–20 CAF Champions League, the 56th edition of Africa's premier club football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the 24th edition under the current CAF Champions League title. For the first time, the final was played as a single match at a venue pre-selected by CAF. It was originally scheduled to be played on 29 May 2020 at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the match was postponed and Cameroon decided to withdraw from hosting. Instead, the final was played on 27 November 2020 at the Cairo International Stadium in Cairo, Egypt. The final featured two Egyptian clubs, Al-Ahly and Zamalek, which made this the first CAF Champions League final to feature two clubs from the same country, as well as the first final to feature two clubs from the same city. The 2019–20 CAF Champions League (officially the 2019–20 Total CAF Champions League for sponsorship reasons) was the 56th edition of Africa's premier club football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the 24th edition under the current CAF Champions League title. This season was to be the first to follow an August–to-May schedule, as per the decision of the CAF Executive Committee on 20 July 2017. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the semi-finals and final of the competition to be postponed until October and November 2020. Moreover, for the first time, the final was played as a single match at a venue pre-selected by CAF, and was originally to be played at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon. Japoma Stadium
The Japoma Stadium is a 50,000-capacity all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Douala, Cameroon. It is part of a sports complex that also consists of an indoor arena for basketball, handball, futsal and volleyball, tennis courts and an 8-lane Olympic-size swimming pool, as well as conference and commercial centres, a hotel and a parking lot. The stadium also has an athletic track. The Japoma Stadium costed around $232 million, with 85% of the project financed by Turkish Türk Eximbank.
