2019–20 Northwestern State Demons Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Northwestern State Demons basketball team represented Northwestern State University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Demons, led by 21st-year head coach Mike McConathy, played their home games at Prather Coliseum in Natchitoches, Louisiana as members of the Southland Conference. They finished the season 15–15, 11–9 in Southland play to finish in a tie for fourth place. They defeated Texas A&M–Corpus Christi in the first round of the Southland tournament and were set to take on Sam Houston State in the second round until the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Previous season The Demons finished the 2018–19 season 11–20 overall, 6–12 in Southland play to finish in 11th place. Mike McConathy
John Michael McConathy (born December 27, 1955) is an American former basketball coach college basketball. He served as the head men's basketball coach at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana from 1999 to 2022. He was raised in Bossier City and played college basketball at Louisiana Tech, earning honorable mention All-American honors. From 1983 to 1999, McConathy was the basketball coach at Bossier Parish Community College, originally an entity of the Bossier Parish School Board. He was hired as head coach at Northwestern State in March 1999. Reed Arena
Reed Arena is a sports arena and entertainment venue located at the corner of Olsen Boulevard and Kimbrough Boulevard in College Station, Texas. This facility is used for Texas A&M University basketball games and commencement ceremonies, concerts, trade shows, family entertainment, and Texas A&M student programs, including the on-campus Aggie Muster. The building replaced the G. Rollie White Coliseum, and is named for Dr. & Mrs. Chester J. Reed, a 1947 A&M graduate whose donations made the new arena possible. 2019–20 Texas A&M Aggies Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Texas A&M Aggies men's basketball team represented Texas A&M University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Aggies were coached by first-year head coach Buzz Williams. The Aggies played their home games at Reed Arena in College Station, Texas as members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They finished the season 16–14, 10–8 in SEC play to finish in a tie for sixth place. They were set to take on Missouri in the second round of the SEC tournament. Centenary Gentlemen Basketball
The Centenary Gentlemen basketball team represents Centenary College, located in Shreveport, Louisiana, in NCAA Division III men's basketball competition. The "Gentlemen" nickname is exclusive to men's athletes and teams; ''Ladies'' is used for women's teams and athletes. The team is a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division III. Prior to 2011, Centenary was a member of the NCAA Division I, and competed in the Summit League. Recent coaching history The Gentlemen were coached by Rob Flaska from 2005 until 2008.
