2019–20 Montenegrin First League
The 2019–20 Montenegrin First League was the 14th season of the top-tier association football in Montenegro. The season began on 3 August 2019 and ended on 30 June 2020. The league winners qualified for a place in the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League. Sutjeska were the defending champions after winning the league in the previous season. The season was suspended on 13 March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic in Montenegro, then later resumed on 1 June 2020. Teams Mornar and Lovćen were relegated at the end of the previous season. After earning promotion from the Montenegrin Second League, FK Podgorica and Kom competed in the league this season. The following 10 clubs competed in 2019–20 First League. Montenegrin First League
The First League of Montenegro ( Montenegrin: ''Prva crnogorska fudbalska liga'' — ''Prva CFL'' — ''1. CFL''; ) is the top football league in Montenegro. Founded in 2006, competition is headed by the Football Association of Montenegro. 10 teams participate in this league. The winner of the Montenegrin First League starts the qualifications for the UEFA Champions League from the second round. The second and third placed team and Montenegrin Cup winner play in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Conference League. The last placed team is directly relegated to the Montenegrin Second League, and the two others are playing in Montenegrin First League playoffs. FK Lovćen
Fudbalski klub Lovćen is a football club based in Cetinje, Montenegro. It was founded on 20 June 1913. It was named after Mount Lovćen near Cetinje. Lovćen is the oldest football club in Montenegro and one of the oldest in Southeastern Europe. Today, Lovćen is a member of Montenegrin Third League. FK Lovćen is a part of Lovćen Cetinje sports society. History Period 1913–1941 The club was founded on 20 June 1913, as a Workers' sports club Lovćen (RŠK Lovćen). Stadion Zlatica
Stadion Zlatica is a football stadium in Zlatica, a suburb of Podgorica Capital, Montenegro. It is used for football matches and is the home ground of FK Kom. History The current stadium in Zlatica was built in 2016. It is situated near the old field, which was demolished during 2015. The new football stadium in Zlatica has a capacity of 1,200 seats. With numerous facilities and another training pitch, the stadium meets the criteria for official games in every national competition. Old ground Previously, in period between 1958 and 2015, FK Kom played home games at an old field, near the new stadium. The old stadium had a capacity of 800 seats. Aleksandar Nedović
Aleksandar Nedović ( Cyrillic: Александар Недовић; born 5 September 1978) is a Montenegrin football manager and former player. He last manages FK Budućnost Podgorica. Playing career Club After starting out at Budućnost Podgorica in the First League of FR Yugoslavia, Nedović was transferred to Partizan in the 2001 winter transfer window. He made just three league appearances for the club over the course of three and a half years, but also spent some time on loan to Čukarički ( 2002) and Napredak Kruševac ( 2003). In the 2008 winter transfer window, Nedović moved from Grbalj to fellow Montenegrin First League side Rudar Pljevlja. Braća Velašević Stadium is a football stadium in Danilovgrad, Montenegro. It is situated near the Zeta riverbank, it is used for football matches. The stadium is the home ground of FK Iskra. History The stadium was built after World War II, near the Zeta river, in the centre of town. Over time, it has undergone several renovations, with the most recent reconstruction completed in 2016. Danilovgrad
Danilovgrad ( cnr, Даниловград) is a town in central Montenegro. It has a population of 6,852 (2011 census). It is situated in the Danilovgrad Municipality which lies along the main route between Montenegro's two largest cities, Podgorica and Nikšić. Via villages, Danilovgrad forms part of a conurbation with Podgorica. The town of Danilovgrad is located in the fertile valley of the Zeta River, sometimes called also the Bjelopavlići plain, after the name of the local clan. Radanovići (Serbian Cyrillic: Радановићи) is a small town in the municipality of Kotor, Montenegro. Podgorica City Stadium ( cnr, Stadion pod Goricom) is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Podgorica, Montenegro. Although its seating capacity changed over the years due to several renovations, as of 2019 it has 11,050 seats. The stadium is the home ground of the Montenegrin national football team and Budućnost. History Podgorica City Stadium was built in 1945, following World War II. Before the war, Budućnost and other clubs from Podgorica played their matches in a field near that location. The stadium's original capacity was around 5,000 spectators.
