2019–20 Israeli Premier League
The 2019–20 Israeli Premier League, also known as Ligat Tel Aviv Stock Exchange for sponsorship reasons, was the 21st season since its introduction in 1999 and the 78th season of top-tier football in Israel. The season began in August 2019 and concluded in July 2020 after a suspension of 75 days due to the coronavirus pandemic. Teams A total of fourteen teams were competing in the league, including twelve sides from the 2018–19 season and two promoted teams from the 2018–19 Liga Leumit. Bnei Sakhnin and Maccabi Petah Tikva were relegated to the 2019–20 Liga Leumit after finishing the 2018–19 Israeli Premier League in the bottom two places. Sektzia Ness Ziona were promoted as the winners of the 2018–19 Liga Leumit. This marked the return of Ness Ziona to the top division after 51 years of absence. Israeli Premier League
The Israeli Premier League ( he, ליגת העל, ''Ligat Ha`Al'', ), is a professional association football league which operates as the highest division of the Israeli Football League – the state's league of Israel. The league is contested by 14 clubs, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with its second division Liga Leumit. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing between 33 and 36 matches each, totalling 240 matches in every season. The competition formed in 1999 following the decision of the Israel Football Association to form a new league. It is also ranked 21st in the UEFA coefficients of leagues based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. Teddy Stadium
Teddy Stadium ( he, אצטדיון טדי) is a sports stadium in the Malha neighborhood of Jerusalem. Three football teams currently use the stadium: Beitar Jerusalem, Hapoel Jerusalem, and the Israel national football team for select home matches. The 2019–20 Liga Leumit was the 21st season as second tier since its re-alignment in 1999 and the 78th season of second-tier football in Israel. A total of sixteen teams contested in the league, including twelve sides from the 2018–19 season, the two promoted teams from 2018–19 Liga Alef and the two relegated teams from 2018–19 Israeli Premier League.
