York United Football Club (formerly known as York9 FC) is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Toronto, Ontario. The club competes in the Canadian Premier League and plays its home games at York University's York Lions Stadium. History In December 2017, former Canadian international Jimmy Brennan stepped down as executive director of Aurora FC and announced his intentions to take a role within the Canadian Premier League. In March 2018, it was revealed that Brennan had been named executive vice-president of York Sports & Entertainment back in January. The following day, it was revealed that the company's president Preben Ganzhorn named himself as president of an unknown entity called York9 FC, believed to be a Canadian Premier League franchise. Vaughan Azzurri
Vaughan Azzurri is a Canadian semi-professional soccer team based in Vaughan, Ontario, that currently competes in the League1 Ontario men's and women's divisions. The semi-professional team was founded in 2014 by the Vaughan Soccer Club, which is a youth soccer club as part of their High Performance Program. History Vaughan Soccer Club was founded in 1982 as a youth soccer club under the name Concord Jets. In 1986, they renamed to Vaughan SC. Since 1986, the club continued to grow and by 2012, became the second largest soccer club in York Region. Midfielder
A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. Steven Vincent Gordon Sonny Furlano (born February 6, 1998) is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a midfielder. Club career Early career Furlano began playing football at the age of five at Barrie SC. He later attended St. Peter’s Secondary School and Bill Crothers Secondary School. Diyaeddine Abzi (born 23 November 1998) is a professional soccer player who plays for La Liga 2 club Leganés, on loan from Ligue 2 club Pau FC as a left-back. Born in Morocco, he represented Canada at youth international level. Early life Born in Fez, Morocco, Abzi moved to Montreal at age nine, where he began playing youth soccer with FS Salaberry. Luca Robert Gasparotto (born 9 March 1995) is a retired Canadian soccer player who played as a centre-back. He has played for Canada at youth level and has been called into the senior squad. Club career Early career Gasparotto began playing soccer with local club Ajax SC, coached by his father, and then moved to Canadian Soccer League side SC Toronto. Ljungskile SK is a Swedish football club located in Ljungskile, a town within Uddevalla Municipality. They currently play in the Swedish third tier, Division 1. History Ljungskile SK, formed in 1926, is famous for their promotions between 1990 and 1997. In 1990, Ljungskile SK was playing in Swedish Division 5 and gained promotion to Division 4, Division 3, Division 2, Division 1 until they reached Allsvenskan in 1997. Roger Thompson (born 19 December 1991) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a centre-back for York United. Club career Early career After moving to Canada, Thompson started playing football at Brampton East SC. He later played with Vaughan SC. In 2009, he played 14 matches for the Graceland University, scoring three goals. In 2010 he attended the University of Cincinnati and made 19 appearances for the Cincinnati Bearcats. Justin Springer
Justin Springer (born 8 July 1993) is a former professional footballer and current coach, who serves as head coach of League1 Ontario club Guelph United FC. Born in Canada, he represented the Saint Kitts and Nevis national team. University career Springer began attending the University of Guelph in 2012, where he played for the men's soccer team. Aurora FC was a Canadian semi-professional association football, soccer club based in Aurora, Ontario, Aurora, Ontario. The club continues to operate as a youth soccer club.
