2019 Tour Of Flanders For Women
The 16th running of the Tour of Flanders for Women, a women's cycling race in Belgium, was held on 7 April 2019. It was the sixth event of the 2019 UCI Women's World Tour. Anna van der Breggen was the defending champion. The race was won by Marta Bastianelli. Route The race started and finished in Oudenaarde, in the province of East Flanders. Compared to the 2017 and 2018 event, the route is extended four kilometers, totalling 157.4 km, making it the longest women's race in the history of the Tour of Flanders. It starts in the centre of Oudenaarde, before heading east towards Zottegem where two flat cobbled sectors are addressed, and returning to Oudenaarde, after which a larger loop towards Geraardsbergen begins, which features 10 hills in the Flemish Ardennes. 2019 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2019 UCI Women's World Tour was a competition that included twenty-three road bicycle racing, road cycling events throughout the 2019 in women's road cycling, 2019 women's cycling season. It was the fourth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition began with the 2019 Strade Bianche Women, Strade Bianche on 9 March and concluded with the Tour of Guangxi on 22 October. After just missing out in 2018 UCI Women's World Tour, 2018, Marianne Vos () clinched her first UCI Women's World Tour title after a third-place finish in the final event of the season, the Tour of Guangxi. Flemish Ardennes
The Flemish Ardennes (Dutch: ''Vlaamse Ardennen'') is an informal name given to a hilly region in the south of the province of East Flanders, Belgium. Highest summit is the Hotondberg (145 m). Main characteristics of the region are rural hilly landscapes with hilltop bluebell woodlands (Muziekbos, Brakelbos, Kluisbos), windmills and watermills. The area is distinct and not adjacent to the larger Ardennes, which is further to the south east of the country in Wallonia, France, Germany and Luxembourg. Among the largest towns in the area are Oudenaarde, Ronse, Zottegem and Geraardsbergen. Cycling is particularly popular in the Flemish Ardennes. Many major bike races are held here, including a large part of the Tour of Flanders. Lisa Brennauer (born 8 June 1988) is a German former Cycle sport, racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2009 and 2022, for six different teams. On the track, Brennauer won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the Cycling at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's team pursuit, women's team pursuit with Mieke Kröger, Lisa Klein (cyclist), Lisa Klein and Franziska Brauße, setting the new world record. Chantal van den Broek-Blaak (née Blaak; born 22 October 1989) is a Dutch road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . In 2017 she became world road race champion in Bergen, Norway. Career Junior career Van den Broek-Blaak was the Dutch national junior time trial champion in 2006 and 2007. Katarzyna "Kasia" Niewiadoma (born 29 September 1994) is a Polish racing cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Among her wins are the Amstel Gold Race, the Trofeo Alfredo Binda and the stage race The Women's Tour. She is a former national champion in both the road race and time trial events. In July 2022, she was named as one of the pre-race favourites for the first edition of the Tour de France Femmes, and eventually finished third overall. Eleonora Maria "Ellen" van Dijk (; born 11 February 1987) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Besides road cycling she was also a track cyclist until 2012. Van Dijk is known as a time trial specialist and is five times world champion. She won her first world title on the track in the scratch race in 2008. She became Road World Champion in 2012, 2013 and 2016 with her respective trade teams in the team time trial and in 2013 also in the individual time trial. Paterberg
The Paterberg is a hill in the municipality of Kluisbergen, in the Belgian province of East Flanders. With its top at 80 m, it is one of many hill formations in the Flemish Ardennes, close to Wallonia. The slopes of the hill were unpaved until 1986, when a local farmer paved the road in cobbles because he wanted the Tour of Flanders cycling race to pass by his house. The cobbled climb became one of the iconic sites of Belgian cycling, and in 1993 the road of the Paterberg was classified as a protected monument. Oude Kwaremont
The Oude Kwaremont (English: ''Old Kwaremont'') is a road in Kluisbergen, a municipality in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The Oude Kwaremont, contrary to popular belief, is not the name of a hill, but the name of one of the cobbled roads leading up the Kluisberg hill. The Kluisberg is one of several hill formations in the Flemish Ardennes in the south of East-Flanders, close to the border with Wallonia. The climbing road is best known for its presence in many Flemish professional cycling races, such as the Tour of Flanders, E3 Harelbeke and Dwars door Vlaanderen. Kruisberg
The Kruisberg, also known as Oude Kruisberg or Oude Kruisens, is a hill and road in the city of Ronse, in Flanders, Belgium. With its top at 122 m altitude, it is one of many hill formations in the Flemish Ardennes, in the south of East-Flanders. The road starts going gently uphill from the center of Ronse. The upper and steepest part of the climb consists of 450 m of cobbled surface. Kruisberg is the unofficial name of the ''Oudestraat'' and ''Oude Kruisens'' roads, which run parallel to Ronse's actual Kruisberg, a broad concrete road.
