2019 Texas Rangers Season
The 2019 Texas Rangers season was the 59th of the Texas Rangers franchise overall, their 48th in Arlington as the Rangers, and their 26th and final season at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The Rangers began the season on March 28 against the Chicago Cubs and finished the season on September 29 against the New York Yankees. On November 2, 2018, Chris Woodward was hired to be the manager of the Rangers for the 2019 season. Despite a strong May and June for the team, they fell apart after that, failing to qualify for the postseason for the third consecutive year. American League West
The American League West is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. The division has five teams as of the 2013 season, but had four teams from 1994 to 2012, and had as many as seven teams before the 1994 realignment. Although its teams currently only reside along the West Coast of the United States, west coast and in Texas, historically the division has had teams as far east as Chicago. From 1998 (when the NL West expanded to five teams) to 2012, the AL West was the only MLB division with four teams. The current champion of this division is the Houston Astros. In 2013, the Houston Astros went from the National League Central to the AL West. That move gives all six MLB divisions an equal five teams and both leagues an equal 15 teams each. 2019 Chicago Cubs Season
The 2019 Chicago Cubs season was the 148th season of the Chicago Cubs franchise, the 144th in the National League and the Cubs' 104th season at Wrigley Field. The Cubs were managed by Joe Maddon, in his fifth year as Cubs manager, and played their home games at Wrigley Field as members of Major League Baseball's National League Central Division. The Cubs began the season on the road against the Texas Rangers on March 28 and ended it at the St. Louis Cardinals on September 29. They finished the season 84–78 to finish in third place in the Central Division. The Cubs failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014. The 2019 Los Angeles Angels season was the 59th season of the Angels franchise and the 54th in Anaheim (all of them at Angel Stadium). They failed to qualify for the postseason for the fifth straight year, finishing the season with a 72-90 record. Gerrit Cole
Gerrit Alan Cole (born September 8, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros. Cole played for the baseball team at Orange Lutheran High School, and was selected by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2008 MLB Draft. Cole opted not to sign, and instead attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played college baseball for the UCLA Bruins. After his college baseball career, the Pirates made Cole the first overall selection in the 2011 MLB draft. Framber Valdez (born November 19, 1993) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). Valdez signed with the Astros as an international free agent in 2015, and made his MLB debut in 2018. In 2022, Valdez became the Astros' Opening Day starter, an MLB All-Star, and an All-MLB First Team selection, each for the first time, while compiling an MLB record of 25 consecutive in-season quality starts. Roberto Osuna Quintero Jr. (born February 7, 1995) is a Mexican professional baseball pitcher for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). Adrian David Sampson (born October 7, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers (baseball), Texas Rangers, and in the KBO League for the Lotte Giants. The 2019 Houston Astros season was the 58th season for the Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise in Houston, Texas, their 55th as the Astros, seventh in both the American League (AL) and AL West division, and 20th at Minute Maid Park.
