2019 Los Angeles Angels Season
The 2019 Los Angeles Angels season was the 59th season of the Angels franchise and the 54th in Anaheim (all of them at Angel Stadium). They failed to qualify for the postseason for the fifth straight year, finishing the season with a 72-90 record. On July 1, 2019, Angels' pitcher Tyler Skaggs died at the age of 27 while in Texas before a series against the Texas Rangers. American League West
The American League West is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. The division has five teams as of the 2013 season, but had four teams from 1994 to 2012, and had as many as seven teams before the 1994 realignment. Although its teams currently only reside along the West Coast of the United States, west coast and in Texas, historically the division has had teams as far east as Chicago. From 1998 (when the NL West expanded to five teams) to 2012, the AL West was the only MLB division with four teams. The current champion of this division is the Houston Astros. In 2013, the Houston Astros went from the National League Central to the AL West. That move gives all six MLB divisions an equal five teams and both leagues an equal 15 teams each. Tyler Skaggs
Tyler Wayne Skaggs (July 13, 1991July 1, 2019) was an American left-handed professional baseball starting pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Angels from 2012 until his death in 2019. A native of Woodland Hills, California, and a graduate of Santa Monica High School, Skaggs was a supplemental first-round selection for the Angels in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. He was traded to the Diamondbacks the following year as part of an exchange for pitcher Dan Haren and rose through Arizona's farm system. After two consecutive appearances at the All-Star Futures Game in 2011 and 2012, Skaggs made his major league debut on August22, 2012, against the Miami Marlins. Félix Hernández
Félix Abraham Hernández García (born April 8, 1986), nicknamed "King Félix", is a Venezuelan former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Seattle Mariners from 2005 through 2019. On August 15, 2012, Hernández threw the 23rd perfect game in MLB history against the Tampa Bay Rays in a 1–0 victory at Safeco Field. It was also the first perfect game in Seattle Mariners franchise history. His perfect game remains the most recent in Major League Baseball. 2019 Seattle Mariners Season
The 2019 Seattle Mariners season was the 43rd season in franchise history. The Mariners played their twentieth full season and twenty-first overall at T-Mobile Park, their home ballpark. The Mariners entered the season with the longest active playoff drought in the four major North American professional sports and again failed to make their first postseason appearance since 2001. The Mariners started the season with a 13–2 record, their best start in franchise history. However, they went 55–92 after their great start, finishing last in the AL West for the first time since 2012 and falling out of the playoffs once again. With the Washington Nationals winning the World Series during the 2019 postseason, the Mariners now hold the dubious distinction of being the only MLB franchise to have never played in the World Series. Francellis Montas Luna (born March 21, 1993) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics. Montas signed as an international free agent with the Boston Red Sox in 2009, and was traded to the White Sox in 2013. Blake M. Treinen (, born June 30, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball for the Baker Wildcats and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits baseball team.
