2019 South Africa Sevens
The 2019 South Africa Sevens was the second tournament within the 2019–20 World Rugby Sevens Series and the 21st South Africa Sevens tournament. It was held on 13–15 December 2019 at Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa. Fiji, the United States and South Africa – three of the top four teams from the 2018–19 World Rugby Sevens Series – were all drawn into Pool A. Format The 16 teams were drawn into four pools of four. Each team plays every other team in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool advance to the Cup playoffs and compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. The other teams from each pool go to the classification playoffs for 9th to 16th placings. Teams Fifteen core teams participated in the tournament along with one invited team, Japan. 2019–20 World Rugby Sevens Series
The 2019–20 World Rugby Sevens Series was the 21st annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national men's rugby sevens teams. The Sevens Series has been run by World Rugby since 1999–2000. In March 2020, World Rugby postponed all remaining tournaments in the series due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The events in London and Paris were postponed provisionally until September, preceding the Singapore and Hong Kong events previously postponed until October. On 30 June, the remaining four rounds of the series was cancelled which meant that New Zealand was awarded the title by 11 points over second place South Africa. Format Sixteen nations competed at each event, drawn into four pools of four teams. Following the pool matches at each tournament, the top eight teams (two teams from each pool) played off for a Cup, with gold, silver and bronze medals also awarded to the first three teams. Waisea Nacuqu
Waisea Nacuqu (born 24 May 1993) is a Fiji national rugby sevens team player. Nacuqu is known as "game breaker" and has on many occasions scored match winning tries. He is well known for his speed and scoring tries. Nacuqu is from Votua village near the township of Ba near the bank of Ba River. He refused to go back to school after Class 7 at Votua Catholic School and played Soccer for Tavua and rugby for the Westfield Tokatoka Barbarians in Nadi. Nacuqu scored the winning try in the 2014 Tokyo sevens final against South Africa. He was part of the Fiji sevens team that won a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He later won a gold medal at the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town. Kevon Williams
Kevon Williams (born June 7, 1991) is an American rugby player who plays for the United States national rugby sevens team on the World Rugby Sevens Series. Williams is originally from Houston, Texas. He attended Westbury High School and college at the New Mexico Highlands. He also played American football as a wide receiver with the New Mexico Highlands until 2012. He picked up rugby in 2013. His strong rugby play with New Mexico earned him the 2014 College Sevens Player of the Year award by Rugby Today magazine, in large part due to his play at the 2014 NSCRO national championship. Danny Barrett (born March 23, 1990) is an American rugby player who plays as a forward. He previously played for the U.S. national rugby team, and also played for the U.S. national rugby sevens team. Barrett was in the Men's Eagles Sevens pool for the World Rugby Sevens Series until late 2021. Barrett's strong play during the 2016–17 season landed him one of the seven spots on the 2017 season Dream Team, alongside teammate Perry Baker. Selvyn Davids (born 26 March 1994 in Jeffreys Bay) is a South African rugby union player for the South African Sevens team. His regular position is centre or winger. Youth Davids played for the Nico Malan High School first team between 2010 and 2013. In the 2013 season, he scored 408 points during the season.
