2019 Scottish Rally Championship
The Scottish Rally Championship is a rallying series run throughout Scotland over the course of a year, that comprises seven gravel surface events. The 2019 series began on the snow-covered forest tracks around Inverness on 9 February, with the season finale taking place around Dalbeattie on 14 September. Banchory
Banchory (, sco, Banchry, gd, Beannchar) is a burgh or town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is about west of Aberdeen, near where the Feugh River meets the River Dee. Prehistory and archaeology In 2009, a farmer discovered a short cist burial to the east of the town. Archaeologists were called into excavate it and they found that it was a burial from the Beaker culture. Radiocarbon dating put the burial at sometime between 2330 and 2040 BC. Stable isotope analysis of the human remains indicated that he or she grew up on basalt geology, like that of the region, or on chalk, meaning they were either local or could have come from another place, like Yorkshire. Residue analysis of the Beaker pot found in the burial established that it had held either butter or milk. The Mini John Cooper Works WRC is a World Rally Car debuted by the Mini WRC Team during the 2011 World Rally Championship season. It is the first rally car to bear the Mini label in top-level rallying since the 1960s. The car was entered in a limited campaign for 2011, with a view to a complete championship from 2012 and was run by Prodrive, who previously had success with the Subaru Impreza WRC. The WRC is based on the Mini Countryman and features a direct-injection 1.6 L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine. The Hyundai i20 R5 is a rally car built by Hyundai Motorsport and based upon the Hyundai i20 road car. It is built to R5 regulations. The i20 R5 made its competitive début at the 2016 Tour de Corse, where it was driven by Kevin Abbring and Sebastian Marshall. The car currently competes in the World Rally Championship-2 and the European Rally Championship where it is entered by Hyundai's factory team and various privateers. It made its competition début in 2015 as a successor to the Škoda Fabia S2000. David Bogie
David Bogie (born 31 July 1987) is a British rally driver from Dumfries. He has held the title of Scottish Rally Champion for a record breaking six years from 2009 until 2013 and 2022. At the end of season 2011, he was both Scottish and British Rally Champion, the first person ever to hold both titles simultaneously. Career His first rally was in 2004 at the wheel of a Vauxhall Nova on a round of the SRC. He continued to use this car throughout 2005 and 2006 in the BTRDA Rally Championship in the 1400 section. In 2007, he had his first stage win, driving a Toyota Corolla WRC. That year he came third in the SRC, a feat he repeated in 2008. 2009 saw him mount a full season in the British Rally Championship where, despite two podium finishes, reliability problems with his Mitsubishi EVO X meant he had a disappointing season. John "Jock" Armstrong (born 23 January 1970) is a British rally driver from Castle Douglas. He was Scottish Rally Champion in 2015 and 2016. Career His first rally was in 1989 driving a Vauxhall Nova. In 1993 he won the UK Colway Tyres budget championship in a 1300cc Vauxhall Nova, ahead of drivers with more powerful cars. In October 2015, Armstrong and regular co-driver Paula Swinscoe were crowned the 2015 Scottish Rally champions.
