2019 NB Tankard
The 2019 NB Tankard, the provincial men's curling championship of New Brunswick was held January 23 to 27 at Curl Moncton in Moncton, New Brunswick. The winning Terry Odishaw team represented New Brunswick at the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier in Brandon, Manitoba. Moncton (; ) is the most populous city in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of New Brunswick. Rene Comeau
Rene Comeau (born December 14, 1994) is a Canadian curler from Fredericton, New Brunswick. He currently skips his own team on the World Curling Tour. Career Comeau won the 2014 New Brunswick Junior Curling Championship. He skipped the team of Daniel Wenzek, Jordon Craft and Ryan Freeze at the 2014 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. They finished the round robin with a 5–1 record and the championship pool with a 7–3 record, qualifying them for the semifinal. They breezed past Alberta to face Manitoba in the gold medal game. The teams were even in percentages however Manitoba had a key steal of four which was ultimately the difference in the game. New Brunswick earned the silver medal. Comeau would win the provincial championship again in 2015 this time with a new team of Andrew Burgess, Alex MacNeil and Ryan Freeze. Andy McCann
Andrew McCann (born April 26, 1982 in Oromocto) is a Canadian curler from Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick. He currently plays lead on Team James Grattan. Career McCann was the alternate for Team New Brunswick skipped by James Grattan at the 2008 Tim Hortons Brier where they finished with a 2–9 record. He played in two games. He won his first provincial championship in 2012 at the 2012 Molson Canadian Men's Provincial Curling Championship as third for Terry Odishaw. At the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier, the team had a good showing, finishing the round robin in sixth with a 5–6 record. McCann would once again spare for Grattan at the 2014 Tim Hortons Brier. He played no games but the team finished with a respectable 6–5 record. McCann joined the Grattan rink for the 2017–18 season. Chris Jeffrey
Christopher Jeffrey (born November 19, 1988) is a Canadian curler from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He currently plays the alternate on Team Scott Jones. Career Men's In his junior career, Jeffrey played in the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, finishing with a 4–8 record. Jeffrey made the provincial final in 2013 playing third for Zach Eldridge. They lost to James Grattan by one point. He won his first Tankard title in 2015 at the 2015 Pepsi Tankard as second for Jeremy Mallais and they went on to have a 2–9 record at the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary. He joined the Grattan rink for the 2017–18 season and the move paid off for him as the team won the 2018 Papa John's Pizza Tankard. At the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier, they finished with a 3–5 record. Spencer Mawhinney (born May 30, 1977) is a Canadian curler from Saint John, New Brunswick. He currently plays second on Team Jason Roach. Career Mawhinney made the playoffs at the 2009 Alexander Keith's Tankard as lead for Charlie Sullivan. They lost in the semifinal to Rick Perron. He lost in the semifinal in 2011 as well, as lead for Paul Dobson. In 2017, Mawhinney and his rink of Sullivan, Dobson and Mark Dobson made the final of the 2017 Pepsi Tankard. They had finished 4–3 in the round robin and defeated James Grattan in the semifinal. They took control of the game in the second end by stealing three after Mike Kennedy missed his last shot. The game was tied 4–4 in the ninth before Team Sullivan gave up a steal of three, ultimately losing the match 7–5. Paul Dobson (born May 30, 1979, in Saint John, New Brunswick) is a Canadian curler from Quispamsis, New Brunswick. He currently plays second on Team James Grattan. Career Dobson won his first New Brunswick Tankard in 2005 as second for Wade Blanchard. They defeated Russ Howard in the final. They finished in eleventh place at the 2005 Tim Hortons Brier with a 3–8 record. The following season, he began skipping his own team with Scott Jones, Ryan Porter and Pierre Fraser.
