2019 Marylebone Cricket Club University Matches
The 2019 Marylebone Cricket Club University Matches were a series of cricket matches that were played between the eighteen County Championship#teams, County Championship teams and the six List of current first-class cricket teams#England and Wales, Marylebone Cricket Club University teams (MCCU) of England and Wales. The first two rounds of fixtures were classed as first-class cricket, first-class matches. Each county side played one fixture against an MCCU side ahead of the start of the 2019 County Championship. In the opening round of fixtures, Alastair Cook scored 150 not out for Essex County Cricket Club, Essex against Cambridge University Cricket Club, Cambridge MCCU, in his first match since retiring from Test cricket. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the Sports governing body, national governing body of cricket in England and Wales. In the sport of cricket, a declaration occurs when a captain declares his team's innings closed and a forfeiture occurs when a captain chooses to forfeit an innings without batting. Declaration and forfeiture are covered in Law 15 of the ''Laws of Cricket''. This concept applies only to matches in which each team is scheduled to bat in two innings; Law 15 specifically does not apply in any form of limited overs cricket. Samuel Conners (born 13 February 1999) is an English cricketer. He was born in Nottingham and attended George Spencer Academy in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire. In July 2018, he played for the England under-19 cricket team against South Africa, before signing a two-year deal with Derbyshire. Steve O'Shaughnessy (cricketer)
Steven Joseph "Steve" O'Shaughnessy (born 9 September 1961) is a former English professional cricketer who played for Lancashire and Worcestershire in the 1980s, and then had a substantial career in Minor Counties cricket with Cumberland. Since retiring from playing, he has become an umpire, and was promoted in December 2010 to the first-class panel for the 2011 season. Life and career Born in Bury, Greater Manchester, O'Shaughnessy was selected for the England Young Cricketers tour of the West Indies in 1979–80, playing in all three Youth Tests. Muhammad Hassan Adnan Syed ( ur, ), (born 15 May 1974, in Lahore) is a Pakistani former cricketer who has played for the cricket teams of Islamabad, Water and Power Development Authority, Gujranwala, Derbyshire and Lahore. The County Cricket Ground (usually shortened to the County Ground, also known as the Racecourse Ground; currently the Incora County Ground due to sponsorship) is a cricket ground in Derby, England. It has been the home of Derbyshire County Cricket Club since 1871. Luis Michael Reece (born 4 August 1990) is an English cricketer who plays for Derbyshire. He is a left-handed batsman who bowls left-arm medium pace. He previously played for Lancashire before joining Derbyshire ahead of the 2017 season. Early life Luis Reece was born in Taunton, Somerset and educated at St. Michael's CE High School and Myerscough College, both in Lancashire. James Philip Arthur Taylor (born 19 January 2001) is an English cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Derbyshire against the West Indies on 11 August 2017 during their tour of England, taking the wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite. The younger brother of fellow Derbyshire player Tom Taylor, he is a product of the Derbyshire cricket academy.
