2019 Leende Open
The Dynamic Billard Leende Open 2019 (sometimes known as the 2019 Netherlands Open) was a nine-ball pool (cue sports), pool tournament, and the first Euro Tour event of 2019. The event was held between 7–10 February 2019, at the Golden Tulip Jagershorst hotel in Leende, Netherlands. The event was won by Germany's Joshua Filler, who defeated Ruslan Chinakhov 9–7 in the final. This was Filler's first Euro Tour win, having previously been a runner-up at three previous events. Shane Van Boening was the defending champion, having defeated Eklent Kaçi 9–8 in the final of the 2018 Leende Open. Van Boening, however did not take part in the 2019 competition. Tournament format The event was played as a double elimination knockout tournament, until the last 32 stage; where the tournament was contested as a single elimination bracket. Leende
Leende is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Heeze-Leende, approximately 12 km southeast of Eindhoven. History The village was first mentioned in 1253 as Lieende. The etymology is unclear. Leende is a village which developed in the Early Middle Ages along the Groote Aa. Thorsten Hohmann
Thorsten Hohmann (born 14 July 1979 in Fulda, West Germany) is a German professional pool player, nicknamed "the Hitman." He is a three-time world champion, winning the WPA World Nine-ball Championship in 2003, and 2013, and winning the WPA World Straight Pool Championship in 2006. Career Early life Thorsten was born and raised in Fulda, Germany and at a very young age had always been interested in sports, playing football, table tennis and badminton. At the age of nine Thorsten's father took him to a local pool hall. On his 10th birthday Thorsten received a miniature pool table. Wiktor Zieliński
Wiktor Zieliński (born 11 January 2001) is a Polish professional pool player. He is the youngest player to ever win a Euro Tour event, winning the 2017 Treviso Open at the age of 16. Career Zielinski began playing pool at aged 8 in 2009, and in 2013 entered his first competition, the Junior European championships. Zielinski played his first men's event in 2015, at the 2015 Italian Open. The following season, he won his first European championship. Fedor Alekseyevich Gorst (russian: Фёдор Алексеевич Горст; born May 31, 2000, in Moscow) is a Russian-born American professional pool player. Career In December 2018, Gorst reached 8th in the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) world rankings. Gorst won the U19 8-Ball European Pool Championship in 2017, before winning the 2018 Treviso Open on the Euro Tour. Ralf Souquet
Ralf Souquet ( ; born 29 November 1968) is a German professional pool player. His nickname is "The Kaiser". Since 1988, he has won more than 200 tournament titles, including 23 Euro Tour titles, 20 European Pool Championship and 12 German Pool Championship. Souquet is a two-time world champion, winning the 2008 WPA World Eight-ball Championship and 1996 WPA World Nine-ball Championship. 2017 WPA World Nine-ball Junior Championship
The 2017 WPA World Nine-ball Junior Championship was a professional youth 9-Ball World Championship held between October 30 and November 2, 2017. The event was split into three competitions, Under 17s, boys and girls. Sanjin Pehlivanović won the U17 event, defeating Robbie Capito in the final, with Fjodor Gorst winning the boys event. Niels Feijen (born 3 February 1977, The Hague) is a Dutch professional pool player, from the Hague. His nickname is "the Terminator". In 2014 he won the WPA World 9-ball championship. Career In 2001, Feijen reached the finals of a nine-ball tournament in Tokyo, Japan. The event had a field of more than 700 players and offered the largest prize money at that time. Oliver Ortmann (born 11 June 1967) is a German professional pool player from Gelsenkirchen. Ortmann is a three-time world champion, winning the 1995 WPA World Nine-ball Championship and the 2007 and 2010 World Straight Pool Championship. Ortmann became the second player (after Earl Strickland) to win three WPA world championships. Chris Melling (pool Player)
Christopher Melling (born 27 January 1979) is an English professional pool and snooker player and former world number 1 at World Rules British Eight-Ball. He won the WEPF World Eightball Championship twice, in 2001 and 2003. He was ranked #1 in 2003 by the World Eightball Pool Federation. Melling has also twice won the International Pool Masters (2001 and 2002) and the European Professional title (2002). He was the first player to win two International Tour events back to back. David Alcaide
David Alcaide Bermúdez (born 14 December 1978) is a Spanish pool player. He is a two-time winner of the World Pool Masters, winning the 2017 event, defeating Jayson Shaw 8–7 in the final, and again in 2019 defeating Alexander Kazakis 9–8.
