2019 Lagos State House Of Assembly Election
The 2019 Lagos State House of Assembly election was held on 9 March 2019, to elect members of the Lagos State House of Assembly in Nigeria. All the 40 seats were up for election in the Lagos State House of Assembly. APC won all the 40 available seats. Upon the opening of the 9th State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa (APC-Agege I) was elected as Speaker of the House while Wasiu Sanni (APC-Lagos Island I) and Agunbiade Sanai (APC-Ikorodu I) became Deputy Speaker and House Leader, respectively. Results Agege I APC candidate Mudashiru Obasa won the election. Agege II APC candidate Ogundiran Olayinka won the election. Amuwo Odofin I APC candidate Mojisola Alli-Macaulay won the election. Mudashiru Obasa
Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa (born 11 November 1972) is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, member of All Progressives Congress and incumbent Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Early life He was born in Agege, a town in Lagos State southwestern Nigeria. He had his primary education at St Thomas Acquinas Pry School, Surulere, Lagos before he proceeded to Archbishop Aggey Memorial Secondary school, Mushin, Ilasamaja, Lagos where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate. He received a bachelor's degree in Law from Lagos State University, Lagos in the year 2006. Political career In 1999, Mudashiru contested the seat of councilor at Agege local government under the Alliance for Democracy party and won, which he served between 1999 and 2002. He re-contested for his constituency in the 2019 state election and was re-elected as member of the Lagos State house of assembly, becoming the first to be re-elected into office three consecutive times, and a fifth term record. The Lagos State House of Assembly is the state legislature of Lagos State. It is situated along Governor's Avenue in the state capital, Ikeja. The House of Assembly is currently under the All Progressives Congress political party which is the current ruling party in Lagos State. There have been nine different house of assemblies, the very first one was inaugurated 2 October 1979 and the present one was inaugurated 7 June 2019. There are forty members of the House of Assembly, two represent one of the twenty various local government areas in Lagos. All Progressives Congress
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Founded on 6 February 2013 from a merger of Nigeria's three largest opposition parties, the party came to power following the victory of party candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election.
