2019 Kildare Senior Football Championship
The 2019 Kildare Senior Football Championship is the 126th edition of the Kildare GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Kildare, Ireland. The tournament consists of 16 teams with the winner going on to represent Kildare in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. The championship had a different format this year, employing a random draw for the first round, followed by seeded groups and a knock-out stage. Moorefield were the defending champions for the second year running after they defeated Athy in the previous years final. They were looking to do the first 3 in a row since the great Sarsfields teams of the 50's and looked good only for Barry Coffey to score an equalising point in injury time to send the final to a replay. Their title challenge was undone when Newbridge rivals Sarsfields defeated them 2-15 to 2-9 on 27 October 2019 at St. Conleth's Park. This was Sarsfields' 25th S.F.C. crown. The Kildare Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by Kildare GAA between the top clubs in County Kildare, Ireland. The winners of the Championship qualify to represent their county in the Leinster Club Championship, the winners of which progress to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Sarsfields GAA (Newbridge)
Sarsfields is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Newbridge in County Kildare, Ireland, winner of 25 Kildare Senior Football Championships. The club name is linked to Patrick Sarsfield's castle in the area and the colours, green with white sash, were based on the colours allegedly worn by Sarsfield's men. Pat "Boiler" White (grandfather of current Kildare footballer Gary White) was a member of the Kildare Gaelic football team of the millennium. Niall Buckley was an All Stars Award winner at midfield in 1997. Dermot Earley was an All Stars Award at left half forward winner in 1998 and at Mid-Field in 2009. Two Mile House GAA
Two Mile House is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in County Kildare, Ireland. The club grounds are located on The Commons, just off the Dunlavin Road in Two Mile House parish. Eircode is W91 RF84. The parish of Two Mile House is surrounded by the towns of Naas, Newbridge and Kilcullen. Two Mile House won the 2014 All Ireland JFC Champions after defeating Fuerty of Roscommon 5-7 to 1-11 on 9 February 2014. Leinster Senior Club Football Championship
The Leinster Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played on a knockout basis between the senior club championship winners of the competing counties in Leinster. The current holders of the Leinster title are Ballyboden St. Enda's from Dublin. Offaly side Gracefield were the first winners of the Leinster senior club football championship in the 1970–71 season. The most successful clubs are St. Vincent's from Dublin and Portlaoise from Laois, who have won the Leinster championship on seven occasions. All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship
The All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament which began in season 1970–71. It is the top-tier competition for the senior football clubs of Ireland and London. The current champions are Kilcoo of Down who defeated Kilmacud Crokes of Dublin on 12 February 2022 to win their first title. The current trophy is the Andy Merrigan Cup, named after a footballer who played for Castletown Liam Mellows and Wexford who died as a result of a farm accident at the height of his playing career. Davy Burke
Davy Burke (born about 1987 or 8) is a Gaelic football manager and former player. He has been manager of the Roscommon county team since 2022. He formerly managed Wicklow. Career Burke's playing career (including underage with Kildare) was brought to an end by numerous injuries, including two torn cruciates and a cracked kneecap. He had a replacement plastic kneecap put in. Burke, who is from County Kildare, managed Kildare to the 2018 All-Ireland Under 20 Football Championship. Appointed in November 2017, he resigned in October 2018. He then managed Maynooth in the Sigerson Cup. While managing Sarsfields of Newbridge in 2019 (he led them to the 2019 Kildare Senior Football Championship), Burke was mentioned as a possible Kildare senior manager before Jack O'Connor took the role. The 2020 Kildare Senior Football Championship was the 127th edition of the Kildare GAA's premier club Gaelic football tournament for senior graded teams in County Kildare, Ireland. The tournament consists of 16 teams with the winner not going on to represent Kildare in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship, due to the latter competition's cancellation. Due to the emergence of and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, the championship had a different format this year, beginning with a group-stage followed by a knock-out stage. Championship activity was postponed temporarily between Friday 7th and Sunday 23 August, when Co. Kildare was placed into lockdown alongside Laois and Offaly. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Newbridge, County Kildare
Newbridge, officially known by its Irish name Droichead Nua (), is a town in County Kildare, Ireland.
