2019 Ironman World Championship
The 2019 Ironman World Championship was a long distance triathlon competition held on October 12, 2019 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii that was won by Jan Frodeno of Germany and Anne Haug of Germany. It was the 43rd edition of the Ironman World Championship, which has been held annually in Hawaii since 1978. The championship was organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) and awarded a total purse prize of $650,000. For Haug it was her first Ironman World Championship win. For Frodeno it was his third Ironman World Championship win. Frodeno set a new overall course record previously set in 2018. Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
Kailua-Kona is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaii County, Hawaii, Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States. It is also known as Kailua (a name it shares with Kailua, Honolulu County, Hawaii, a community located on the windward side of Oahu, Oahu), as Kona (a name it shares with Kona District, Hawaii, the district to which it belongs) and as Kona Town. Bart Aernouts (born 23 June 1982 in Essen) is a Belgian former professional cyclist who competed mainly in cyclo-cross races. Aernouts often finished only a few places behind big names such as Sven Nys, Niels Albert and Zdeněk Štybar, but occasionally managed top results in high calibre races of the Gazet van Antwerpen Trophy or the Superprestige. Linsey Corbin
Linsey Corbin (born February 16, 1981) is an American triathlete who races primarily in non-drafting, long-distance events. Her career includes a third place at the 2011 Ironman 70.3 World Championship and eight Ironman race wins. Career Corbin was born Linsey Pickell to parents Tom and Betty in Greenbrae, California, and grew up in Bend, Oregon, where she attended Mountain View High School. Corbin participated downhill ski racing, cross country and track & field. She attended UC Davis where she ran track but eventually took a break from the sport while attending college. She transferred to the University of Montana to study nutrition and exercise physiology in 2000. In Montana, Corbin began competing in triathlon and in 2003 she entered Missoula's Grizzly Triathlon and won. Carrie Lester (born 1981) is an Australian triathlete. She competes in the Ironman Triathlon and finished tenth in the 2016 Ironman World Championship. Lester won the Port Macquarie Ironman 70.3 in 2011 as well as the Ironman events at Cairns in 2012, and at Chattanooga in 2015. She also won the Embrunman event in 2016. Heather Jackson (born April 24, 1984) is an American triathlete and track cyclist. She is the runner-up of the 2013 Ironman 70.3 World Championship and the third-place finisher at the 2012 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. In 2009, she took third place in individual pursuit and omnium at the USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships.
