2019 Indonesia Open (badminton)
The 2019 Indonesia Open (officially known as the BLIBLI Indonesia Open 2019 for sponsorship reasons) was a BWF World Tour 1000 event which took place at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 16 to 21 July 2019. It had a total purse of $1,250,000. Tournament The 2019 Indonesia Open was the fourteenth tournament of the 2019 BWF World Tour and also part of the Indonesia Open championships, which has been held since 1982. This tournament was organized by Badminton Association of Indonesia and sanctioned by the BWF. Venue This international tournament was held at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta, Indonesia. Istora Gelora Bung Karno
Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace ( id, Istana Olahraga Gelora Bung Karno, abbreviated as ''Istora''), the formerly name ''Istora Senayan'' is an indoor sporting arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia. The capacity of the arena after 2018 reopening is 7,166. This arena is usually used for badminton tournaments. Its maiden event was the 1961 Thomas Cup. It was also used during the 1962 Asian Games and was renovated to host the 2018 edition. Its first post-renovation event was the 2018 Indonesia Masters. During the latter Games, it hosted the badminton and later stages of basketball events. The arena originally was planned to stage the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and becoming the only Indonesian venue in the three-country joint bid but was moved to a newly-built arena inside the complex. Anders Antonsen (born 27 April 1997) is a Danish badminton player. He won the gold medal at the 2015 European Junior Championships in the boys singles event, and at the same year was awarded the European Young Player of the Year. Kantaphon Wangcharoen ( th, กันตภณ หวังเจริญ; born 18 September 1998) is a Thai badminton player. At the young age, Wangcharoen became the runner-up in the senior tournament 2014 Singapore International in the men's singles event after losing the match because of foot injury. Wangcharoen clinched the bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in the boys' singles event, also part of the junior team that won the mixed team bronze in 2014 and 2016, and Asian mixed team bronze in 2016.
