2019 Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa
The 2019 Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa was a road cycling one-day race that took place on 3 August in San Sebastián, Spain. It was the first women's edition of the Clásica de San Sebastián. The 126.7km route covered four categorised climbs, including the Jaizkibel around the 40km mark, a tough steep climb which has often played a pivotal role in deciding the men's race. Lucy Kennedy (cyclist)
Lucy Kennedy (born 11 July 1988) is an Australian former racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Women's Team, UCI Women's WorldTeam . A former triathlete, track and cross country runner, Kennedy was the recipient of the 2017 Amy Gillett Scholarship to do a European tour of races with the High5 Australian Development Team. She has degrees in Civil Engineering, and Commerce, working as a traffic modeller. Kennedy joined UCI Women's Team for the 2018 season. In August 2021 she announced that she would retire from professional cycling at the end of the season. Kathrin Hammes (born 9 January 1989 in Cologne) is a German road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI Women's Continental Team . She won the gold medal at the 2014 World University Cycling Championship in the road race and the silver medal in the time trial. Jaizkibel
Jaizkibel is a mountain range of the Basque Country located east of Pasaia, north of Lezo and west of Hondarribia, in Spain, with at the highest point (peak Alleru). The range stretches south-west to north-east, where it plunges into the sea at the Cape Higuer (spelled Higer too). To the north-west, the mountain dips its slopes in the sea with beautiful cliffs all along, overlooking on the east the marshes of Txingudi, the river Bidasoa and its mouth (tracing the France–Spain border) as well as the towns of Irun, Hendaia and Hondarribia on the river banks. Janneke Ensing (born 21 September 1986) is a Dutch former sportsperson, who competed in speed skating in the 2000s before becoming a cyclist, competing for seven different teams between 2009 and 2021. Career Speed skating In 2002, she was the Dutch national C-junior champion. Two years later she won a bronze medal as a B-junior. At the 2007 KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships Ensing finished 10th over 1500 metres. She also represented her country at the 2007 Winter Universiade held in Turin where she won the gold medal at the team pursuit together with Moniek Kleinsman and Diane Valkenburg. The Donostia-Donostia Klasikoa — Clásica San Sebastián-San Sebastián (San Sebastián Classic) is a one-day professional men's bicycle road race in northern Spain that has been held every summer since 1981 in San Sebastián.
