2018–19 Vancouver Canucks Season
The 2018–19 Vancouver Canucks season was the 49th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on May 22, 1970. On July 25, 2018, president of hockey operations, Trevor Linden left the organization and his role was assumed by general manager Jim Benning. The Canucks were eliminated from playoff contention on March 29, 2019, after the Colorado Avalanche's overtime win against the Arizona Coyotes. Off season On June 22, the Canucks drafted Quinn Hughes with the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. They also selected Jett Woo, Tyler Madden, Toni Utunen, Artyom Manukyan and Matthew Thiessen. Pacific Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Pacific Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. It is also one of the two successors of the Smythe Division (the other one was the Northwest Division), though of the current teams, only the Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights did not play in the Smythe Division. Due to subsequent realignments, three of the Pacific Division's original teams (the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks) left the division in 1998 but returned in 2013. The division is the only one in the NHL without any Original Six teams. Jacob Markström
Jacob Anders Markström (born 31 January 1990) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender and plays for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League. He was selected by the Florida Panthers in the second round, 31st overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has also played for the Vancouver Canucks. Playing career Brynäs IF Markström signed a two-year contract with the Brynäs IF senior team on 12 May 2008. He had previously been playing for the Brynäs IF junior team. Matthew Thiessen (ice Hockey)
Matthew Arnold Thiessen (born August 12, 1980) is a Canadian-American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer known for being co-founder, lead singer, guitarist, pianist, and primary songwriter for the Christian rock band Relient K. With Relient K, he has released eight full-length albums, including three that were certified Gold, and three that peaked in the top twenty on the ''Billboard'' 200. Toni Utunen (born 27 April 2000) is a Finnish professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for Lahti Pelicans of the Finnish Liiga. Tyler Madden (born November 9, 1999) is an American professional ice hockey center currently playing with the Ontario Reign in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect under contract with the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League (NHL). Madden was selected 68th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Quintin Hughes (born October 14, 1999) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman and alternate captain for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Hughes was drafted seventh overall by the Canucks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to the draft, he was considered a top prospect player. The 2018–19 Colorado Avalanche season was the 24th operational season and 23rd playing season since the franchise relocated from Quebec prior to the start of the 1995–96 NHL season. As well as the franchise's 40th season in the National Hockey League and 47th season overall. On April 4, 2019, the Avalanche clinched a playoff spot after a 3–2 overtime win against the Winnipeg Jets. In the playoffs, the Avalanche defeated the Calgary Flames 4–1 in the First Round to secure their first playoff series win since 2008.
