The 2018–19 Arizona Coyotes season was the 40th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, the 23rd season since the franchise relocated from Winnipeg following the 1995–96 NHL season, and the 47th overall, including the World Hockey Association years. Pacific Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Pacific Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. It is also one of the two successors of the Smythe Division (the other one was the Northwest Division), though of the current teams, only the Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights did not play in the Smythe Division. Due to subsequent realignments, three of the Pacific Division's original teams (the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks) left the division in 1998 but returned in 2013. The division is the only one in the NHL without any Original Six teams. Darcy Kuemper
Darcy Kuemper (born May 5, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the sixth round, 161st overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He has also played in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings, Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche. Kuemper won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022. Competing internationally with Team Canada, he won gold at the 2021 IIHF World Championship. Early life Kuemper was born on May 5, 1990, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to police officer Brent and accountant Sharon Kuemper. Saskatoon is home to a large ice hockey community, and Kuemper began ice skating by the age of three. Prospera Place, formerly known as Skyreach Place, is a 6,886-seat multi-purpose arena, in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. It replaced Kelowna Memorial Arena, which is still in use for minor hockey Opened in 1999, it is home to the Kelowna Rockets hockey club. The arena hosted the Memorial Cup in 2004. Antti Raanta (born 12 May 1989) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). Raanta was initially signed by the Chicago Blackhawks as an undrafted free agent. He has also played for the New York Rangers and the Arizona Coyotes. Playing career Lukko (2009–2011) In March 2008, Raanta signed a three-year-contract with Rauman Lukko of the Finnish Liiga. In 2009, Raanta won bronze in the Lukko U20 team and had the best save percentage in the U20 league. He was called up to the Lukko's men's team but had not yet made a Liiga debut. World Hockey Association
The World Hockey Association (french: Association mondiale de hockey) was a professional ice hockey major league that operated in North America from 1972 to 1979. It was the first major league to compete with the National Hockey League (NHL) since the collapse of the Western Hockey League in 1926. Although the WHA was not the first league since that time to attempt to challenge the NHL's supremacy, it was by far the most successful in the modern era.
