The 2018–19 Buffalo Sabres season was the 49th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on May 22, 1970. After experiencing a ten-game winning streak in November that put them atop the NHL standings, the Sabres regressed sharply the rest of the season and were officially eliminated from playoff contention on March 23, 2019, after suffering a 7–4 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, joining the 2016–17 Philadelphia Flyers as the only teams in NHL history to win 10 consecutive games and be eliminated from playoff contention. Atlantic Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League has used the name Atlantic Division for two distinct groups of teams. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. As part of a 2013 realignment, the entirety of the former Atlantic Division was realigned into the Metropolitan Division. The Atlantic Division name was assigned to a new division comprising the entirety of the former Northeast Division plus the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning (coincidentally, both were members of the original Atlantic Division until 1998) from the now-dissolved Southeast Division, and the Detroit Red Wings, who moved from the Central Division of the Western Conference. The 2016–17 Philadelphia Flyers season was the 50th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. This was the 2nd season under head coach Dave Hakstol. The Flyers missed the playoffs, finishing 11th in the Eastern Conference and 6th in the Metropolitan Division. Off-season The Flyers had a relatively quiet off-season, with their main actions being to re-sign Radko Gudas and Brayden Schenn to 4-year extensions. The 2018–19 Vegas Golden Knights season was the second season for the National Hockey League franchise that started playing in the 2017–18 season. Clinton Arena, also known as Edward W. Stanley Recreation Center, is an indoor arena in Clinton ( Oneida County), New York, United States, that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
