2018–19 Men's Belgian Hockey League
The 2018–19 Men's Belgian Hockey League was the 100th season of the Belgian field hockey men's top division. It began on 2 September 2018 and it concluded with the second leg of the championship final on 12 May 2019. Dragons were the defending champions, having won the 2017–18 season. Léopold won their 28th title by defeating Beerschot 6–5 in aggregate in the championship final (two-legged tie). Teams Number of teams by provinces Regular season The twelve teams are grouped in two pools of six (Pool A and Pool B) based on the previous season's ranking : * Pool A : 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, National 1 (2) * Pool B : 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, National 1 (1) The teams of the same pool compete 2 times and face the teams of the other pool once. Men's Belgian Hockey League
The Men's Belgian Hockey League is a field hockey league organised by the Royal Belgian Hockey Association. The league was established in 1919 as the Division 1. Between the 2006–07 and the 2015–16 seasons it was known as the Honor Division. Since 2016–17 it has been sponsored by Audi and as it also known as the Audi Hockey League. Sixteen different clubs have won the league with a 28 times record for Léopold. The current champion is Léopold, having won the 2018–19 by defeating Beerschot in the championship final. Format The season usually starts in September and ends around the end of April or the beginning of May. From the 2021–22 season onwards the league is played by twelve teams who play each other twice and who compete for four spots in the championship play-offs. Lier (; french: Lierre, ) is a municipality located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. It is composed of the city of Lier proper and the village of Koningshooikt. La Gantoise HC, also known as Gantoise is a Belgian sports club based in Ghent, Brussels. The club is most well known for its field hockey section with both the first men's and women's teams playing in the Belgian Hockey League. The Gantoise women are the current title holders in the Belgian Hockey League, as well as the EuroHockey Club Trophy. History While La Gantoise was originally founded in 1864, the hockey section was not formed until 1914. The first edition of the Belgian Hockey League, known simply as 'The Championship' at the time, was held following the conclusion of World War One. Brasschaat () is a municipality located in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium, and in the Flemish province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Brasschaat proper. Royal Daring Hockey Club Molenbeek, commonly known as Royal Daring or simply Daring, is a Belgian field hockey club based in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Brussels. Boom, Belgium
Boom (, ; ) is a Belgian town, located in both the arrondissement and province of Antwerp. In 2021, Boom had a total population of 18,799. The total area is 7.37 km² (2.85 sq mi).
