2018–19 Chicago Blackhawks Season
The 2018–19 Chicago Blackhawks season was the 93rd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on September 25, 1926. The Blackhawks were coached by Joel Quenneville, in his 11th season as the Blackhawks' head coach, for the first 15 games of the season. On November 6, 2018, Quenneville was fired and Jeremy Colliton was named the new head coach. The Blackhawks were eliminated from playoff contention on April 2, 2019. This marked the first time since the 2006–07 and 2007–08 seasons that the Blackhawks had missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. The Blackhawks finished the season 36–34–12 to finish in sixth place in the Central Division. Patrick Kane led the team in scoring, scoring 44 goals and a regular season career-high of 110 points. Central Division (NHL)
The NHL's Central Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. Its predecessor was the Norris Division and its also one of two successors to the Northwest Division. The Chicago Blackhawks have been a member of the Central Division in all of its seasons since the original 1993 realignment. The Arizona Coyotes (as the original Winnipeg Jets), Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues were also original members of the division, but were realigned to a different division for a while before returning; both the Coyotes and Stars were moved to the Pacific Division in 1998 (the Stars moved back to the Central in 2013, and the Coyotes followed in 2021), while the Blues were moved to the West Division during the temporary 2021 realignment. Anton Forsberg
Anton Forsberg (born 27 November 1992) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the seventh round (188th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Forsberg also played for the Lake Erie Monsters and went undefeated during the playoffs en route to winning the 2016 Calder Cup playoffs. Playing career Swedish Hockey League Forsberg played in his native Sweden as a youth with Modo Hockey. In the 2011–12 season, Forsberg made his senior debut with Modo in the top tier Elitserien. Matt Tomkins
Matthew Tomkins (born June 19, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. He is currently playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL). Tomkins was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Playing career Tomkins played two seasons abroad, playing in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) with Frölunda HC and Färjestad BK before returning to North America following the 2022–23 season. The 2018–19 Ottawa Senators season was the 27th season of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Senators failed to qualify for the playoffs for the second consecutive year. The season saw the trading away of several notable veterans including Erik Karlsson, Matt Duchene, Mark Stone and Ryan Dzingel and the firing of coach Guy Boucher. Little Caesars Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Midtown Detroit. Opened on September 5, 2017, the arena, which cost $862.9 million to construct, replaced Joe Louis Arena and The Palace of Auburn Hills as the home of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA), respectively. Kevin Lankinen (born 28 April 1995) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Liiga Lankinen has played primarily for HIFK of the SM-liiga, from 2014 to 2018. He also played one match for Jokerit and two for KooKoo, and ten for Kiekko-Vantaa of Mestis. Alexander DeBrincat (born December 18, 1997) is an American professional ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), right winger for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round, 39th overall, of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Born in Farmington Hills, Michigan, DeBrincat spent one year at Harrison High School (Michigan), Harrison High School before transferring to Lake Forest Academy in Illinois.
