2018 World Team Table Tennis Championships
The 2018 World Team Table Tennis Championships were held in Halmstad, Sweden from 29 April to 6 May 2018. The quarterfinal between North Korea and South Korea in the women's tournament did not take place, as the teams choose to continue as a united team Seeding The top fourteen teams of the first division and the top two teams of the second division at the 2016 World Team Championships were guaranteed a place in the first division, along with top eight placed teams in the world rankings not already qualified. Halmstad Arena is a multi purpose area in Halmstad, Sweden. Halmstad Arena is used for sport activities, concerts, meetings and fairs. Construction began on 15 November 2007 and the arena was officially opened on 20 February 2010. Dimitrij Ovtcharov
Dimitrij Ovtcharov (russian: Дмитрий Овчаров) or Dmytro Ovtcharov ( uk, Дмитро Овчаров; born 2 September 1988) is a Ukrainian-born German table tennis player. His father Mikhail (or Mikhaylo), a Soviet table tennis champion in 1982, moved his family to Germany shortly after Dimitrij was born. Since 2008, Ovtcharov has won a total of two silver and four bronze medals at the Olympics. Ranked first January to February 2018, he is ranked ninth in the world by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) as of November 2022. Ding Ning (; born 20 June 1990) is a former Chinese table tennis player. She was the winner of women's singles in the 2011 World Table Tennis Championships. At the 2015 World Table Tennis Championships, Ding won her second world title in women's singles by defeating her compatriot Liu Shiwen 4–3 in the final. Chen Meng (; born 15 January 1994) is a Chinese table tennis player and the current World No. 2 in Women's Singles. She joined the provincial team when she was 9 and joined the national team when she was only 13 in 2007. Truls Carl Eric Möregårdh (; born 16 February 2002) is a Swedish table tennis player. He won bronze with the Swedish team at the World Team Table Tennis Championships in 2018, as well as at the 2019 European Table Tennis Championships. Mattias Falck (; né Karlsson) (born 7 September 1991) is a Swedish table tennis player. Career He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics as part of the Swedish team in the men's team event. Mattias won two medals at the 2016 European Table Tennis Championships. Paired with Matilda Ekholm he won a silver medal in mixed doubles, and paired with Kristian Karlsson he won a bronze medal in men's doubles. Kristian Karlsson
Kristian Gunnar Karlsson (; born 6 August 1991) is a Swedish professional table tennis player. Career Born in Trollhättan, Västra Götaland, Karlsson started to play table tennis in his hometown club at the age of 8. He remained in Trollhättan until he was 16, subsequently he moved away from home to go to high school. During his high school years Karlsson had 10 training sessions a week. In 2011 he signed to Halmstad BTK and began to rose through the ranks quickly.
