The 2018 World Para Swimming European Championships, known for sponsorship reasons as the 2018 World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships took place in Dublin, Ireland from 13 to 19 August 2018. It was the 5th edition of the Championships, the first under the new World Para Swimming branding, and the first time Ireland had hosted. Xenia Francesca Palazzo (born 29 April 1998) is an Italian Paralympic swimmer of Russian descent who competes in international level events, She competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, and 2020 Summer Paralympics, in Women's 100m Backstroke - S8, Women's 200 individual medley SM8 winning a silver medal, Women's 4×100 freestyle relay P34 winning a gold medal, Women's 400 freestyle S8 winning a bronze medal and in Women's 50 metre freestyle S8, winning a bronze medal. Cecilia Camellini
Cecilia Camellini (born 10 March 1992 in Modena) is a visually-impaired, born blind, Paralympic swimmer of Italy. At the 2008 Summer Paralympics she won two silver medals. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics she won two gold in world record time, and two bronze medals. Camellini is an athlete of the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro. Maryna Piddubna
Maryna Piddubna (born 7 May 1998) is a Ukrainian Paralympic swimmer. Career Piddubna has a visual impairment and competes in S11-class races. She competed at the 2012 Paralympic Games and won a bronze medal at the 2016 Paralympic Games in the 50 metre freestyle S11 event. Liesette Bruinsma from the Netherlands also won a bronze medal in the race as they both finished in 31.23 seconds. She won bronze medals at the World Para Swimming Championships in 2013 and 2015 both of which were in the 100 metre backstroke S11 event. Liesette Bruinsma
Liesette Bruinsma (born 9 September 2000) is a Dutch Paralympic swimmer. She competes in S11 classification events for athletes with visual impairments. She is the 2016 double Paralympic champion within her classification. She competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, in Women's 400 metre freestyle S11, and Women's 100 metre freestyle S11, winning silver medals. Swimming career Bruinsma first competed for the Netherlands at Glasgow in 2014. Her first major international competition was the 2016 IPC Swimming European Championships in Funchal, where she competed in six events, and took a medal in five of them. Three of her Funchal medal's were gold: 400 m freestyle (S11), 100 m breaststroke (SB11) and the 200 m find. medley (SM11). S11 (classification)
S11, SB11, SM11 are disability swimming classifications for blind swimmers. Sport This classification is for swimming. In the classification title, S represents Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly strokes. SB means breaststroke. SM means individual medley. Jane Buckley, writing for the Sporting Wheelies, describes the swimmers in this classification as having: "unable to see at all and are considered totally blind (see IBSA B1 – appendix). Swimmers must wear blackened goggles if they swim in this class. They will also require someone to tap them when they are approaching a wall." Zara Mullooly
Zara Mullooly (born 11 September 2002) is a British Paralympic swimmer who competes in International level freestyle events. She is British Record holder in 50m, 100m, 200m, and 400m freestyle for the S10 classification. Zara has congenital right side hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy. Early life Zara grew up in Woking, Surrey, where she attended Guildford High School. Shortly after her first birthday, Zara was referred by her GP to a consultant orthopaedic surgeon after her parents noticed she walked with a limp. Investigations showed Zara’s left arm and leg limb length to be greater than her right, and an X-ray of her pelvic bone showed an obvious size difference between the left and right side. Swimmers in this class tend to have minimal weakness affecting their legs, missing feet, a missing leg below the knee or problems with their hips. This class includes a number of different disabilities including people with amputations and cerebral palsy. Toni Stephanie Shaw (born 5 August 2003) is a British Paralympic swimming, Paralympic swimmer. In 2019 she set the List of IPC world records in swimming – Women's long course, world record time for the S9 (classification), S9 200m Butterfly stroke, butterfly, and was also part of the team that set a new world record for the 4x100m medley relay. At the 2020 Summer Paralympics, she won a bronze medal in the Swimming at the 2020 Summer Paralympics – Women's 400 metre freestyle S9, women's 400 metre freestyle S9 event and later went on to win gold at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships, becoming the World Champion.
