2018 Uzbekistan Super League
The 2018 Uzbekistan Super League (known as the Pepsi Uzbekistan Super League for sponsorship reasons) was the 27th season of top level football in Uzbekistan since 1992. Lokomotiv Tashkent were the defending champions from the 2017 campaign. Teams On 21 November 2017 according to ''UzPFL'' management decision the Uzbek League was officially renamed to ''Uzbekistan Super League'' starting from 2018 season. The number of teams playing in top division of Uzbek football is reduced from 16 to 12. The draw for the 2018 Super League season was held on 3 February 2018. The first matchday is scheduled for 1 March 2018. Sementchi, the winner of 2017 Uzbekistan First League did not participate in new Super League season. Olmaliq ( uz, Olmaliq / Олмалиқ, russian: Алмалык, Almalyk) is a district-level city (2021 pop 133,400) in the Tashkent Region of central Uzbekistan, approximately 65 km east of Tashkent. It is located at latitude 40° 50' 41N; longitude 69° 35' 54E; at an altitude of 585 meters. Olmaliq is a company town developed by the Soviet Union in the 1930s, to exploit local reserves of copper, lead, zinc, gold, silver and barite. The town contains several enormous smelting facilities and related industries operated today by JSC Almalyk MMC, one of the largest mining-metallurgical enterprises in Uzbekistan. The smelter operations have extensively contaminated Almalyk, which is considered one of the most polluted places on earth. FC Mash'al Mubarek ( uz, Mashal Muborak professional futbol klubi) is an Uzbek football club based in Mubarek. ''Mash'al'' means a torch. History The club was founded in 1982. Mashʼal played its first years in province league, later in UzSSR league. In 1993 the club started to play in Uzbekistan First League and two years later after 1994 season club gained promotion to Oliy League. In the 2005 season Mashʼal finished runners-up in League after Pakhtakor which is club's highest achievement in history.
