The 2018 Pan American Track Cycling Championships took place at the Aguascalientes Bicentenary Velodrome, in Aguascalientes, Mexico, from August 29 until September 2, 2018. The event served as a qualifier for the 2019 Pan American Games. Aguascalientes
Aguascalientes (; ), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Aguascalientes ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Aguascalientes), is one of the 32 states which comprise the Political divisions of Mexico, Federal Entities of Mexico. At 22°N and with an average altitude of above sea level it is predominantly of semi-arid climate (Köppen climate classification, Bhs and Bhk), and it is located in the northern part of the Bajío region, in north-central Mexico, bordered by Zacatecas to the north, east and west, and by Jalisco to the south. Njisane Nicholas Phillip (born 29 May 1991) is a former Trinidadian track cyclist active from 2010 until 2019. Born in Siparia, he competed for Trinidad and Tobago at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where he achieved a fourth place finish in the individual sprint, as well as at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. and at several Pan American Games and Championships. In the latter, he was the 2012 Pan American Championships sprint champion. He is credited with reviving track cycling in his country, and the end of his career coincided with the rise of his compatriot World Championship silver medalist, Nicholas Paul. He retired after the 2019 Pan American Games. Phillip's later career and early retirement were clouded by recreational drug issues. Daniel Holloway (born May 21, 1987) is an American cyclist, who previously rode for American amateur team Texas Roadhouse Racing. Holloway specialized in criteriums, track racing and six-day racing. During his career, Holloway has won over 20 national titles, a Pan American title in 2018 and a gold medal at the 2019 Pan American Games. On June 2, 2021, Daniel Holloway announced his retirement from professional cycling. Career Early life and junior career Holloway was born on May 21, 1987, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and began as a speed skater. He began cycling as practice for speed skating in the summer. His racing career began on the velodrome due to its similarities with the track. Holloway took to cycling winning his first national championship in July 2004 in the Madison.
